Retention Metrics Workout
In this series dashboard series, we'll explore the various ways one can think about retention metrics.
Cohort by Metric (Volume USD)
With a slight twist, we aggregate based on the volume trade on blur to understand spending trends instead of user count. You can do it via percentage or absolute volume depending on the insight you want to gain.
One tricky nature of this query is that from the previous query, it counts ALL users of a cohort group. However, in this case if we apply the same query, we would end adding ALL the volume of the month instead of month 0. Hence, we need some small tweaks. We only include the first spend volume that is the initial month of coming in. Then we will track if they are spending more over time. Ultimately, we want this to be higher and you would see the percentages go above 100%
If you look diagonally lines for 2023-02 and 2023-03 you would have noticed that the retained volume is mostly higher across all other months. This tells us the anticipation of the airdrop had generated volume and interest. However, for latest diagonal (2023-03 cohort), we see that the retained volume is crushed. This could be due to Opensea pro or the fatigue from $Blur farming
