Arbitrum Network Health Check

The Arbitrum token is officially in the hands of the broader crypto economy. Over 900M $ARB tokens have been claimed thus far, representing a vast majority of the total airdrop supply. Let's check in how the network is behaving and see what's going on in the Arbitrum economy. What are users doing with $ARB? Selling, bridging, holding? How's bridging activity? Are airdrop claimers bridging out? Are there non-airdrop allocated users entering the ecosystem - if yes, what are they mostly doing? What is the general network activity? Are certain platforms experiencing more or less volume? What is trading activity looking like? Are certain tokens being trading most? Are token prices depressed?

    ✨Introduction

Arbitrum is a layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum that aims to increase the speed and reduce the cost of transactions on the network.

The $ARB Airdrop refers to a distribution of the $ARB token to eligible Ethereum addresses that have had the most interactions with network before a specific date. This airdrop was conducted to incentivize users to try out and engage with the Arbitrum network. A little more than a billion tokens were distributed to more than 600,000 wallet addresses. With this airdrop, participants can receive anywhere from 625 to 10,250 tokens. According to Arbitrum, the airdrop is a "formal step" toward a DAO (DAO). Members of the Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova networks who hold ARB will have a voice in the network's most important decisions.

Network health refers to the overall state and performance of a network. It can be measured using various metrics such as transaction counts, active users, generated fees, and user retention. Analyzing the network health can help identify areas of improvement and track the success of various initiatives.

User retention refers to the ability of a network to retain its users over a period of time. It is typically measured by looking at the number of users who remain active on the network after a certain period of time. High user retention is desirable as it indicates that users find value in the network and are likely to continue using it in the future.

    🛠️ Method

Let me tell you a story about the current dashboard that we have designed to evaluate the performance of the network and understand what's happening in the Arbitrum economy.

Imagine you are a curious explorer, embarking on a journey to uncover the mysteries of this vast and complex network. As you navigate through the dashboard, you come across several key indicators that provide insight into the behavior of the network and its users.

Firstly, you discover that the dashboard allows you to observe how users are interacting with $ARB tokens - are they selling, bridging, or holding? By examining these trends, you can gain a better understanding of the sentiment and activity levels within the network.

As you delve deeper, you notice that the dashboard provides insights into bridging activity. You can see if airdrop claimers are bridging out, and if non-airdrop allocated users are entering the ecosystem. You can analyze the types of activities they are mostly engaged in and how these trends are evolving over time.

You also discover that the dashboard enables you to monitor the overall network activity, including which platforms are experiencing high or low volumes. Additionally, you can track trading activity, including which tokens are being traded the most, and whether token prices are depressed.

To gather all of this information, we utilized the arbitrum.core.fact_transactions and arbitrum.core.fact_event_log to identify who received dropped $ARB tokens and how they utilized them. We also analyzed which swap pairs were the token recipients' favorites after claiming and monitored how these pairs changed in terms of volume and trade metrics over the past 24 hours and 7 days.

Finally, we evaluated the health of the Arbitrum network by examining the number of newcomers, active users, transaction counts, generated fees by day over the past 6 months, and user retention. This comprehensive analysis allows us to gain a holistic understanding of the network's performance and identify areas of improvement.

By using this dashboard as our guide, we can navigate the complex landscape of the Arbitrum economy with ease and make informed decisions about its future.
