Daily Active User
What is Osmosis?
Osmosis is an advanced automated market maker (AMM) protocol that allows developers to build customized AMMs with sovereign liquidity pools. Built using the Cosmos SDK, Osmosis utilizes Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) to enable cross-chain transactions.
Osmosis allows users to launch liquidity pools with unique parameters, like bonding curves and multi-weighted asset pools. The incentive structure of Osmosis is also adaptable. Governance implements liquidity reward (LP) rewards for specific pools, allowing for strategically targeted incentives.
The OSMO token is a governance token that allows staked token holders to decide the future of the protocol, including every implementation detail. OSMO will initially be used for the following (although governance is free to add or remove these functions):
- Voting on protocol upgrades
- Allocating liquidity mining rewards for bonded liquidity gauges
- Setting the base network swap fee
Method
In the current dashboard, I tried to track activity of Daily Active Users (DAUs) on Osmosis. But, at the first, I consider a DAU would be any wallet transacting on Osmosis a majority of days (here 4 day) every week.
The majority of analysis about these users will be about their LP (Liquidity Providing), Staking and Swap activity on Osmosis. Also, I tried to analyze some data about their incoming and outgoing token transfers to/from Osmosis.
The main used tables to find the mentioned metrics are as below:
> * osmosis.core.fact_transactions (For Identifying Active Users), > * osmosis.core.fact_swaps (For Swap Activity) > * osmosis.core.fact_liquidity_provider_actions (For Liquidity Providing Activities). > * osmosis.core.fact_transfers (For Tokens Transfers Activity) > * osmosis.core.fact_staking (For Staking Activity)
:hourglass_flowing_sand: The following charts show an overview of what has been done by DAUs
>
> > * From these charts, it can be seen that the highest number of transactions have been done for transferring and swapping, which is in second place. > * All of the DAU count is 112.9K, which has done 88.8M transactions in total.
✍🏻 Conclusion
As of abstained results:
- There are 113K DAUs that transacted about 89M transactions on Osmosis .
- Swap activity by Active Osmosis users is way more than other actions.
- The number of outflow transactions from Osmosis by Active users is slightly more than inflow transactions to Osmosis.
- The number of transferrers into Osmosis by DAUs is more than outgoing transferrers from Osmosis.
- The most amount of received tokens by transactions count are belongs to boot, Atom & OSMO with 26.7, 19.2 & 17.5% of total count of transactions, respectively, that 26.6% of transactions took place by osmo1rl7…umxu asddress. and as excepted this pattern is same for sent tokens, too.

Hey there 👋!
Firstly, I appreciate you sticking with it until the conclusion.
I'm Hamed, a civil engineering Ph.D.
student interested in data analysis.
I've made many similar dashboards and visualizations since I started at Flipside in January.
Please take a look at my various contact details and let me know what you think.

:telescope: Findings:
The above charts shows the number of transactions per top 10 assets most transferred by top 50 DAUs and volume of those by amount of token transferred (NOT in $USD).
The most amount of received tokens by transactions count are belongs to boot, Atom & OSMO with 26.7, 19.2 & 17.5% of total count of transactions, respectively, that 26.6% of transactions took place by osmo1rl7…umxu asddress. and as excepted this pattern is same for sent tokens, too.
The most amount of received tokens by amount of transferred token are belongs to uluna, udvpn & uiris with 37, 23 & 14% of total count of transactions, respectively, and as excepted this pattern is same for sent tokens, too.
:hourglass_flowing_sand: The charts below show the top 50 DAUs by most transactions count and their top 10 assets, which tend to send into or bring those out ot Osmosis
> * The first two charts below show the transaction count of the top 10 assets that the top 50 DAUs have sent or received. > * The second two charts show the volume of the top 10 assets by the top 50 DAUs sent or received. > * Also, the following PIE charts show the share of the top 50 DAUs as senders or receivers by transaction count.
:hourglass_flowing_sand: In the following section tried to investigate on aforementioned metrics over time
The investigated actions and transactions have been separated by the categories below.
> * Swap, include all DAUs swapping transactions. > * LP, include all DAUs Liquidity Providing transactions > * Stake, include all DAUs Staking transactions > * Just Swap, include only DAUs that have done only swapping transactions. > * LP, include only DAUs that have done only Liquidity Providing transactions > * Stake, include only DAUs that have done only Staking transactions
:telescope: Findings:
As of the first above chart, it can be observed that swap transactions allocated the highest number of transactions over time, and in the second week of May, peaked at 621K per week.
It can be seen that in the second half of February and March, the highest number of transactions took place.
The overall count of transactions dropped in the second week of June to below 250K per week.
By looking at the cumulative count of transactions in the second above chart, it can be seen that amongst all single action DAUs, just swapping's growth is sharper than others, and it is in third place with 15.5% of all transaction count.
Just LP & Just Staking DAUs have had less than 0.5% of transactions counted.
The last chart in the right shows the Inflow and Outflow transactions on Osmosis. According to that, the number of Outflow transfers from Osmosis by Active users is a more than the number of inflow transfers by them to the Osmosis ecosystem in February, August and early of May.
But, after a dropping on early June, its rose and Inflow transactions went up a little more that Outflow transactions count.
Overall, the Outflow transactions is more than Inflow with 4.52M & 3.9M in cumulative, respectively.
However, it can be seen that the transferring DAUs tend to send their tokens (62.8% of transferrers) more often than they bring those out (37.2%).
