Layer 2 Blocks (StarkWare)

    Q2. How many layer2 StarkNet blocks have been accepted on Ethereum (L1) chain so far? How much fees have been paid(generated) to Ethereum network? Has StarkNet contributed to saving in transaction fees for its users?

    Introduction

    StarkNet is an open-source, decentralized, permissionless ZK-Rollup. It functions as an L2 network on top of Ethereum, making it possible for any decentralized application to achieve a limitless scale for the computation it does. This is accomplished without affecting the composability or security of Ethereum.

    Method

    In this dashboard I used following procedure:

    The ethereum.core.fact_transactions table was used to obtain the results as shown in Analysis in the below.

    And for this I used the following hints:

    FROM_ADDRESS = '0x2c169dfe5fbba12957bdd0ba47d9cedbfe260ca7'
    TO_ADDRESS = '0xc662c410c0ecf747543f5ba90660f6abebd9c8c4'

    At the end, To compare with Starknet, I included an average of Ethereum swap costs as well as other activity.

    Analysis

    • In the above chart the daily count of transactions are shown and in contract the paid fees per day are shown too.
    • The total number of daily StarkNet blocks that have been validated by the Ethereum (L1) chain is displayed in this graph.

    Findings

    • Ethereum now accepts 1.4 million Starknet blocks (E1).

    • On May 4th, there were 6163 blocks total, which is the most ever.

    • The 11th of May had the largest daily fee payment of over 2.9 ETH.

    • The Ethereum network has received more than 50 ETH fees.

    • As measured by the average Swap fees, StarkNet helped its customers save money on transaction costs.

    The graph above compares Starknet and Mainnet Ethereum transfer fees.

    Starknet fees were usually cheaper than Ethereum swap fees. Average fees were 1/2 Ethereum. On alternating days, Mainnet Ethereum fees were lower and higher.
