Ecosystem Growth affected by Holder balance

The dashboard aims is to provide insights into the following metrics related to the Osmosis network and its native token, OSMO:

    1. How has the ratio of liquid to staked OSMO changed over time? This metric will give you an understanding of how users are holding and using their OSMO, and whether there has been a shift in how people are using the token.
    2. Are the top 100 OSMO holders the same now as they were at the start of the year? This metric will give you an understanding of who the major holders of OSMO are and if they have changed over time.
    3. What is the current average OSMO per wallet? How has that value changed over time? Plotting average OSMO/wallet against user growth will give you an idea of how the distribution of OSMO is changing as the number of users grows.
    4. Do wallets normally hold a majority of OSMO, or another token? How has this changed over time? This metric will give you an understanding of which token is most popular among users and how that has changed over time. This could provide insights on the popularity of the project and its ecosystem.

Ecosystem Growth affected by Holder balance is a general term that describes the analysis of the distribution of assets (in this case, OSMO) among different wallets and how it changes over time. This kind of analysis can provide valuable insights into the growth and health of a project's ecosystem by understanding how assets are being held and used by different users and over what time period. The metrics that you have listed such as the ratio of liquid to staked OSMO, the top 100 OSMO holders, average OSMO per wallet, and the popularity of other tokens compared to OSMO, are all examples of how this analysis can be conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the ecosystem.

    Introduction

**Osmosis **is a decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol that uses smart contracts to determine the price of digital assets, generate liquidity through a peer-to-peer (P2P) methodology, and execute trades between users. This approach to an exchange platform is called an Automated Market Maker (AMM), which is a type of DEX protocol that prices crypto assets using liquidity pools. The AMM model allows for decentralized trading of assets without the need for order books, which allows for more efficient trading, lower fees and more resilient to front-running and other forms of market manipulation.

OSMO is a governance token that allows staked token holders to decide the future of the protocol, including every implementation detail. OSMO will initially be used for the following (although governance is free to add or remove these functions):

    • Voting on protocol upgrades
    • Allocating liquidity mining rewards for bonded liquidity gauges
    • Setting the base network swap fee

To stake a cryptocurrency is to pledge that cryptocurrency to be used in the confirmation of transactions on a blockchain. It can be obtained with digital currencies that settle transactions based on the proof-of-stake protocol. In comparison to the first proof-of-work scheme, this one uses less power.

The OSMO token is also minted and burned in the context of Superfluid Staking. As a Osmosis-specific feature, Superfluid Staking provides the consensus layer more security with a sort of "Proof of Useful Stake". Each person gets an amount of Osmo representative of the value of their share of liquidity pool tokens staked and delegated to validators, resulting in the security guarantee of the consensus layer to also be based on GAMM LP shares.

    Method

Explore Osmosis users' OSMO wallet balances on the current dashboard with the use of Flipside's balance table for Osmosis (osmosis.core.fact daily balances).

Here we can see four distinct types of balances: liquid, staked, locked liquidity, and superfluid staked.

The first bounty question is that we evaluate the available OSMO in relation to the total amount that has been staked. In this table, OSMO Tokens are symbolized by the symbol "uosmo," and their decimal value is 6, therefore the token balance may be calculated by dividing the total by 6. We need to restrict the results of the osmosis.core.fact daily balances query to the most recent date available if we want today's data. It works like this: (date = pick max (date) from daily balances in osmosis.core.fact) I was able to get the USD price of OSMO and other tokens from osmosis.core.dim pricing and osmosis.core.dim labels and utilize that data in a number of displays. The currency field in actual daily balances is located in the address column of the dim labels table, thus we need to connect dim prices with that table.

In this control panel, you can adjust the time period using the timeline tape at the top.

    Analysis

    ✍🏻 Conclusion

    According to the above findings:

    • The bulk of OSMO tokens are currently tradeable, or almost 74%.
    • The current Liquid to Staked OSMO ratio is 3.58.
    • While levels of liquid assets, the ratio of liquid assets to stake, and locked liquid assets remain at record highs, the stake has dropped from its all-time high of 178.7 million on October 10 to 170 million to date. The majority of users (69% of total wallet balance) have less than 5 OSMO in their wallet.
    • For both epochs, the best OSMO holder is osmo1fl4...6l09 (all time).
    • There have been some changes among the top 100 OSMO holders since the beginning of the year. The current top 100 OSMO holders account for 71% of the top 100 OSMO holders at the beginning of 2022.
    • Osmosis users have an average current balance of 1137 OSMO. The majority of OSMO users (around 70%) carry less than 5 OSMO in their wallets at any given time.
    • Overall, the ratio of new OSMO users to the total number of OSMO users and the average OSMO balance of users has been steadily declining over time. This demonstrates that users' pace of increase is greater than their typical OSMO balance.
    • Among OSMO tokens, ION has the most dollar worth that its holders have stored away.
    • The OSMO token has the most current holders among Osmosis users, regardless of the value of tokens.

As of visuals above the ratio of liquid to stake OSMO is 3.58 in total, and in the line chart above its show over time.

In the chart above right the liquid, Stake, Osmo Price & Ratio of liquid to stake OSMO are shown over time.

Since Jan 2021 till Dec 14th, 2021, the OSMOs just staked and after Dec 14th, the ratio of liquid to stake fluctuate between 6 and 9.

Liquid, Ratio of liquid to stake are in the all-time high to date, but Stake after peaked at 178.7M in Oct 10, fell to 170M to date.

As of PIE char right, the most of users have less than 5 OSMO in their wallet (69% of all wallet balance).

    :mag_right: Findings:

The graphs above show that osmo1fl48...q6l09 is the longest-serving OSMO bearer over both time intervals (current date and early of 2022). The wallet addresses osmo1jv6...hvld is belong to other large OSMO holders that rank in the top 2 OSMO holders over both time periods.

The top 10 OSMO holders also have different wallets across the two time periods. Therefore, the 100 highest-ranking OSMO holders as of the end of the year are not the same people who held those positions at the beginning of the year. In the third and final chart and table, we see the users (and their wallet balances) that were among the top 100 OSMO holders at the beginning of 2022 and are still among the top 100 today.

The charts above show the total and average change balance of top 10 wallets based on most volume of OSMO balance.

As can be seen by ignoring a drop on first week of Jun 2022, the totally trend of change balance has increased till early week of current month (Oct, 2022), but decreasing since second week are considerable and meaningful in some wallets, although the balances of the first top wallet increased.

:hourglass_flowing_sand: What is the current average OSMO per wallet? How has that value changed over time? Plot average OSMO/wallet against user growth.

    :mag_right: Findings:

The charts above and left show the average OSMO wallet balance falling since 2022. In early May 2022, the average OSMO balance of customers dropped below 300. After this date, grew till July late, After that date, the trend decreases again.

On the right chart, December 2021 saw the highest number of new OSMO users (23.744k new users in a single day). After this date, new OSMO users decrease slightly with occasional spikes. However, recent new user activity exceeds that of December 2021.

Despite OSMOSIS's rapid growth, wallet and daily balances are falling.

:hourglass_flowing_sand: How has the ratio of liquid to staked OSMO changed overtime?

    :mag_right: Findings:

On the charts left, we can see the daily OSMO balance of top 100 holders (both timespans) over time. As we see, both groups’ balance is increasing over time but the growth rate of Current top 100 holders is sharper.

There is a huge high spike of increasing wallet balance of these users on December 2021. After and before this date, the growth rate is slightly increasing.

On the charts left, we can see the distribution of osmosis users based on their OSMO balance over time. as we see, the growth rate and the total share of users with less than 10 OSMO in all days is way more than all other types.

    :mag_right: Findings:

On the charts left, we can see the top 10 tokens of each week that users have most average $USD value of them in their wallet. As can be seen, the OSMO is the top held asset.

Also, in the chart left below, tried to depict top 10 tokens that held by top 100 wallet that are still OSMO holder. Although, the most volume of top 100 still OSMO holders’ balance is OSMO token, yet, but it sharply decreased since late Feb, 2022 and replaced by ION token since Aug 15th.

The charts left show the total volume percentage of tokens held by top 10 wallet based on OSMO balance.

As can be seen nearly 95% of tokens is OSMO and the most of those are held by osmo1fl4…6l09 address.
