Squid DEX Usage

Key insights from the Squid dashboard include the popularity of Quickswap and Curve.fi as DEXs for asset swapping, the growth of Squid since March with a peak in metrics, and the ability to monitor specific routes of interest. The dashboard also includes bridge platforms, real-time data, and provides valuable insights for users to make better-informed trading decisions.

    ✨Introduction
    🛠️ Methodology

Squid Protocol, is a decentralized cross-chain swap and liquidity routing protocol that enables users to easily swap and transfer tokens between different blockchain networks.

The protocol utilizes existing decentralized exchanges (DEXs) to enable these transactions and can be accessed through an SDK, front-end, or contracts directly.

One notable feature of Squid is its use of Axelar's generalized message passing, which allows for seamless one-click transactions between any application and any user, using any asset. This means users can buy NFTs from any marketplace, use multi-chain DeFi, or play games on other chains without the need to sign multiple transactions or download multiple wallets[1].

    Supported chains

    • EVM chains: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Polygon, Moonbeam, Binance Chain, Fantom and Celo
    • Cosmos chains: Cosmos Hub, Crescent, Injective, Juno, Kujira, Osmosis, Secret Network, Terra-2, Agoric, AssetMantle, Axelar, Comdex, Evmos, Fetch, Ki, Regen and Umee [2.

Squid makes cross-chain swaps between assets a breeze with just a click of a button. But to make this possible, Squid relies on decentralized exchange (DEX) swaps behind the scenes.

To understand which DEXs are the most popular, we've created a dashboard that tracks and assesses swap metrics on a source and destination basis. This will help us determine which platforms are being used to swap assets on Squid.

To achieve this, we utilized axelar.core.ez_squid on Axelar's database and event_logs, as well as dim_labels tables on all supported chains by Squid's asset-to-asset cross-chain swaps.

The first page of the dashboard evaluates all the routes from source chains to destination chains and identifies all the platforms used to swap assets.

The second page tracks the popularity of the platforms over time, across all the routes.

Finally, the last page is customizable, allowing you to track your desired routes by inputting your desired source and destination in the parameters field. Once you log in to Flipsidecrypto, you can visualize the metrics of your desired route swaps by clicking on the "Apply All Parameters" button.

With this dashboard, you can easily monitor the most popular DEXs being used on Squid, providing insights into the most active trading pairs, and helping you make more informed trading decisions.
