Who's Got The Flow?
Introduction
Flow is a blockchain platform that originally was designed for gaming purposes, but has expanded since its launch in 2020. The flow blockchain enables fast, low-cost transactions and supports smart contracts. Flow also has a native cryptocurrency that trades under the symbol FLOW [1].
On this dashboard, "flow whales" are the top 100 FLOW token holders.
Method
In this dashboard, I'll analyze $FLOW distribution across holders to observe which wallets hold the most and how it's evolved over time.
I've used flow.core.fact events with the event contract column filtered to $FLOW token contract include A.1654653399040a61.FlowToken
. When $FLOW is deposited into a wallet, 'TokensDeposited' event is emitted. So, we must connect the deposit and withdraw tables to calculate the total $FLOW deposited into a wallet minus the $FLOW taken from the wallet to get the net $FLOW balance.
Only successful transactions considered by filter of tx succeeded='TRUE'
.
First, I'll determine the total number of $FLOW holders and their average balance. then, I'll then assess $FLOW holders' holding amounts.
I've also used flow.core.dim contract labels to identify holders.
Top 100 $FLOW holders are "Whales" in this dashboard.
✍🏻 Conclusion
-
At present, there are 5.71M different holders of FLOW, and their average holdings are worth $44.3 in FLOW.
-
As of right now, more than 627,000,000 $FLOW are held at the wallet address 0x8624b52f9ddcd04a, which is the $FLOW staking contract.
-
There are some well-known addresses among the top holders of $FLOW, including Coinlist, Kraken, and OKX, but the vast majority of these holders remain anonymous.
-
Over the past month, the combined $FLOW of the top 100 whales has decreased.

Hey there 👋!
Firstly, I appreciate you sticking with it until the conclusion.

I've made many similar dashboards and visualizations since I started at Flipside in January.

:mag_right: Findings:
5.71 million wallets held a total of 253 million $FLOW tokens, or 44.3 $FLOW tokens per wallet.
According to the PIE chart, 99.6% of holders have less than one token in their wallet, and 50% of those who have more than one token have less than five tokens, followed by wallets with a balance of 10 to 100 tokens.
The PIE charts below show the holding times of three types of holders: those who no longer have tokens that shows the how long they had held their tokens before sold out or transfer, those who have less than one token, and those who have more than one token.

In the following single row table you can search any address to find its FLOW balance by putting address in the header tape.
The next table the top wallets addresses with the most FLOW balance are shown, Also the In and Out flow of token are represent.
As can be seen the 0x8f…fd93 have the most balance with over 90M tokens.
