These table lists the whales of NEAR blockchain; top 20 NEAR user wallet address that holds the largest amount of $NEAR in their wallet. (subject to change)

These address are identified by looking for address that has made at lest 1 nft mint, and 1 swap txn. Note that this may not account address that solely mints NFT or solely trade via swap.

Part 1: Staking

1.1 Staking Participation

Firstly, lets look at staking participation among the top 20 address. It is found that 11 of the 20 address never staked their NEAR, and only 9 address has done so.

From this pattern, we can say that staking isnt a popular activity among these address.

1.2 Staking Dominance

The Donut chart visulalizes the current staking share of the Top 20 address and the rest of NEAR stakers. It is found that the Top 20 address barely has any dominance in terms of staking, with about 0.01% staking share.

This shows that the Top 20 address does not commit significant capital in staking, currently netting a total of a mere 555.0 K $NEAR in comparison to 8.9 M $NEAR of others'.

spannchy.near is stakes the largest amount of NEAR in total at 6.24 K $NEAR. shambala.near and roger.near comes 2nd and 3rd place respectively, with only about 1/6th of spannchy.near`s total staking amount.

thienquan6678.near is the largest $NEAR holder with balance accruing 76.1 K $NEAR. axser.near and zomland.near comes 2nd and 3rd with balance of about 50 K $NEAR,

Part 2: DeFi activities

2.1 Transaction Volume (DeFi)

Ref finance is the most frequented DeFi by the top 20s. On April '22, burrow gets the attention of the the whales but then the txn volume dissipates over time. pembrock managed to accrue more txn volume per month than ref finance during July and Aug '22. Overall, the trend shows that these address a less active over time and was peaked at Oct '21

2.2 $NEAR spent on DeFi by the Top 20

It is found that metapool receives the most $NEAR by the top 20 .

The Top 20 total $NEAR spending also only accounts 0.02% among other users total spending.

Part 3: NFT Activities on NEAR

3.1 NFT Marketplace Participation

Only 8 of the Top 20s ever interacted with the Paras NFT Marketplace. asac.near yields the highest transaction count , especially on Feb 2022. These Top 20 address seems to be only actively intereacting with Paras.id in early 2022. The NFT marketplace activity has been declining since. This suggests, decresing interest in NFT purchases in NEAR NFTs

Conclusion

From the analysis, it seems that the Top 20 address barely participates in staking , and has minimal dominance in $NEAR staked. Ref Finance is the most frequented DeFi, and most Top 20 address spends their NEAR in Metapool. Only 8 out of 20 address ever traded NFT on Paras.id. Overall, the activity of these top 20 address has been declining since mid 2022.
