Growth

The below chart shows the Weekly new address that uses Metamask top send transactions. This can be considered as new users.

Metamask sees the largest growth from late 2020 up to mid 2021, peaking as high as 31.84 K new users on one day, May 3rd. However Beginning Dec 2021, the number of new users has been dropping till today.

As of today, Metamask has been managed to capture almost 1.3 M users.

Average ETH Balance

This section discuss about average ETH balance of Metamask Users. This is useful to visualize users portfolio and determine, what kind of users are using Metamask. Are they retail users or are they whale users?

User`s ETH Balance Over The Past Week

Below Pie chart shows the ETH Balnce of Metamask Users since 11th June 22. Overall, most Metamask users, has an average between 0 and 1 ETH, which 93% of all Metamask Users.

The Whales are the Top 1% that owns more than 10 ETH.

Those who owns between 1 and 10 ETHs only consists of about 6% of total Metamask Users

Trend; Eth Balance

Has Metamask users always been dominated by those who has than 1 ETH? We are going to extrapolate the ETH balance over time and see how the users portfolio looks like.

The below chart shows the trend of average ETH balance by Metamask Users, over Week.

From the chart, we can see that the numbers of users that has 0 to 1 ETH are increasing significantly over week. The same is for the other 2 groups.

While this indicate positive news for Metamask Growth, this does not account wether these wallets are made by existing users, that jut shifting ETHs from one wallet to another.

This means that, more wallets are being made using Metamask and receiving ETHs over time.

The below table shows wether Metamask users has had interacted with Lido`s ETH staking contract. 9560 address taht uses Metamask has staked ETH with Lido.

Working with cumulative Metamask users over time in earlier section, (1.27 M) and accounting the ETH staker, the below Pie Chart is generated.

Only 0.0007 % of those address stakes with Lido, and the rest did not participate with Lido Staking

Conclusion

Metamask has been able to attract 1.27M user address as of today, and majority of them are those who has a weekly ETH average between 0 and 1 ETH. The number of address that uses Metamask are increasing over time, whether its retail , whales or the 'middle-class'. Amongst Metamask users, only a minute fraction stakes with Lido.
