Daily Active User

What does a Daily Active User look like on Osmosis? First, plot out how many DAUs there are on Osmosis. For this exercise, consider a DAU would be any wallet transacting on Osmosis a majority of days every week. Once you have the DAUs, what does their activity look like? Do they LP more or swap more? How often do they transfer tokens into Osmosis? Where are these transfers coming from? Date Created: 20/10/2022

INTRODUCTION

Osmosis is a DEX protocol using smart contracts to provide liquidity to users performing trades.

METHODOLOGY

In this Dashboard we will look at the Daily Active Users on Osmosis and their actions on swaps/LPs/transfers.

Definition:

We define a Daily Active User someone who has interacted with the Osmosis chain more than 4 times per week.

Data Sources: Data were taken by Flipside’s Osmosis.core tables.

Above we see the total number of DAUs ever at 83.9k users.

Above we see the weekly number of DAUs (>4 days active).

There was a strong increase on Jan 2022 from 7k to 24k until the end of March and then it dropped to 8k on July and it is pretty stable since.

There is also the first week of June where the chain was hacked and we don’t see users being active all week long.

On the left we see the weekly number of Swaps / LPs made by DAUs.

LPs are generally stable ranging at +30k now declined from 80k on March.

Swaps were increasing from Kul 2021 until May 2022 (50k → 500k) and then they dropped to +150k where they are now.

Above we see the weekly number of Swappers (DAUs) by token.

OSMO was the largest one dropping from 17k users on Feb 2022 to +5k now.

ATOM is now the largest one with +7k users declined from 14k.

On the left we see the weekly number of transfers where DAUs transferred tokens into their wallets.

Right now they are at +80k txns a little lower from the maximum of 140k of March.

Here we see the number of transfers that DAUs transferred tokens out of their wallets. Now they are pretty close with the transfers in around 70k weekly, but they had a bigger drop from 190k on March.

The chart on the left shows the number of daily transactions and their type. We see that Osmosis grew from January until June to ~300k transactions daily and then is sharply dropped after the hack to +120k transactions and it stagnated there.

CONCLUSION

The transaction volume on Osmosis has dropped to 120k daily.
DAUs are at 7k now.
Total DAUs ever are 83.9k.
Swaps have way more volume than LPs.
ATOM and OSMO are the first and second most swapped tokens now.
There are <10k more transfers in than out of the DAUs wallets.
