Solend Demographics

Solend is the leading lending protocol on Solana. What are the demographics of the Solend userbase? What is the user distribution by size of account? (How many have between $1-1,000, 1,000 - 100k, etc). Is the protocol largely influenced by whales, or by average Solana users? Date created: 3/8/2022

Solend is the biggest lending and borrowing protocol on Solana. Here we will see the distribution of it’s userbase.

Based on their solend balances we categorize them and we will see the total $ value of each category.

Definition of Whale: Has > $1M in balance.

From the chart above we see that:

    • 95% of users have less than $1k on Solend.

    • 99.2% of users have less than $10k on Solend.

But on the total $ value chart things are different:

    • Whales which account for 0.0271% of total users have 71.7% of the balance.

    • 95.8% of users who have <$1k have only 3.18% of total balance.

    • 99.2% of users who have <$10k have 9.42% of total balance.

The two metrics again with absolute numbers.

Only 7 accounts out of ~26k users have >$1M balance

    Conclusion

We saw the distribution of users on Solend based on their balances and we found out that even if there are only 7 whales -based on my definition- they have 71.7% of total balance, so we can confidently say that the have more control over regular users.
