Introduction

In this analysis, you will read about Osmosis users. After that, we'll examine what active users are doing on the Osmosis blockchain and what activity sharing is.

I went through Osmosis and analyzed active users in the below categories:

•Swaps

•Staking

•Liquidity

•Voting

•Osmo Transfers

Method

My Active User Definition:

I counted user’s transactions and filtered users transactions since January 2022.

I extracted Active users from the Fact transaction table. Also, I extracted new users on osmosis from that table with min function.

We have multiple tables on Osmosis that cover almost all activities. I used Fact Swap for swap activities, fact_staking for staking, Fact Superfluid for Superfluid staking, Transfer table for transfer activities, fact_liquidity_provider_actions with pool_joined filter for adding liquidity and fact_governance_votes for voting.

With UNION, I showed them all in one chart.

Active Users Vs. New Users

•There are 582K new users on Osmosis and 582K avtive users on Osmosis.

•The total number of active users between February 2022 and May increased while in that time, the total number of new users decreased.

•After May, The total number of active users decreased. It means active users had fewer transactions after May.

•Also, After March, The total new users on Osmosis decreased too and over time didn’t change too much and total nunber of active users had a little ups and downs but total new users hadn't.

What is Osmosis?

OSMO is the native token of the Osmosis network. Primarily, OSMO is used for staking to secure the Osmosis chain. As a PoS token, OSMO is inflationary. Over time, new tokens will be minted and entered into circulation. The maximum number of OSMO tokens has been set at 1 billion.

Compare Osmosis with Ethereum and Polygon

•I Filtered Ethereum and Polygon active users like Osmosis criteria. It means, I extracted active users on Polygon and Ethereum based on the number of transactions above 10 since January 2022.

•Following that, Ethereum has the highest number of active users and then Polygon and after Osmosis.

•The total number of active users after May decreased in all three chains. I can say that the bear market impacted these chains and nothing related to chains.

• The most Total Number of Active Users is Polygon.

•As you can see, Polygon's active users were more active in comparison to Osmosis and Ethereum.

•The interesting thing is that the total number of transactions on Osmosis by active users between July and August was higher than Ethereum.

•For less than 1 month, Active users on Osmosis were more active than Ethereum active users.

Osmosis Active Users

•So Far, We examined the new users and active users on Osmosis. But what is important that what new users did on Osmosis over time. Which activity is more popular for active users?

•The majority of active shares are related to swaps by active users. Like any other chain, The swap activity has the highest share among the other activities. However, The share of Swaps on 2022-03-21 and 2022-11-14 decreased.

•Because of Cosmosis and Osmosis Airdrop, The Staking share is in second place.

•As you can see, The share of activities flipped over time. Before March 2022, The Osmo transfers had the lowest share but for a short time flipped with Staking activity.

•However, In the long term, Staking got its place again and it increased in November. If we ignore the swap activity, The highest growth was related to the voting activity.

•Right now is in second place. Swap has 51% of the shares, Voting has 18% and Add liquidity has 9.9% of the shares. Staking with 10% of the share is in the next place.

•The total number of active users followed by transactions. When we see a growth in the number of transactions, Usually it means the number of users increased too.

•In this case, I can see a difference. For example, The share of stake activity based on transactions was in fourth place but based on users is in second place.

•What is interesting for me is that users are active on the Osmosis proposal and voting. The share of voting users is very good.

•There were two types of activities in which I can see huge growth in the number of cumulative users.

•Since April 2022, the cumulative number of Voting and Staking active users increased significantly.

•Overall, Swap with almost 174K active users is in the first place, Staking with 152K unique active users is in second and voting is in third place.

•Superfluid has only 80K unique active users.

•Adding Liquidity, Staking and transfers had similar averages.

•Active users had an average of 6-4-4 transactions in Staking, Transfer and adding liquidity.

•The average number of transactions in Transfer increased significantly in April and then again decreased.

•Osmos transfers had the highest decreased.

Users Breakdown

•From this chart, I can say that the large group of users on osmosis had more than five transactions in Swap, Voting, Staking, Adding Liquidity and Transfering Osmo.

•Following that, Active users had only 1 transaction on Superfluid and Staking.

•Superfluid is on the Osmosis chain but it seems active users do not like Superfluid too much.

Conclusion

•Osmosis active users are like active users on other chains.

•The most popular activity is Swap and as you may know, On the other chain, Swapping is the most popular activity.

•For almost 4 months, I’ve seen a drop in the number of active users each week but I compared it with another chain and found out the bear market impacted user’s activity.

•There is nothing to do with the Osmosis chain. Proposals and Staking are very important for the chain and as you’ve seen these two activities are popular with active users.
