## I. Introduction In this report we are going to have a closer look at the size of ALGO payment transactions since the start of the year 2022 and try to uncover any trends about how it might be changing. ## II. Methodology The selected time frame for our report starts on `January 1, 2022` and extends to the present date of `March 27, 2022`. In order to make better sense of the data, transactions will be binned together based on the amount of `ALGO` sent. With `"x"` being the amount of ALGO in a transaction, the bins we will be using are the following: 1. Between 0 and 10: `x < 10` 2. Between 10 and 100: `10 <= x < 100` 3. Between 100 and 1,000: `100 <= x < 1000` 4. Between 1,000 and 10,000: `1000 <= x < 10000` 5. More than 10,000: `10000 <= x` *Transaction fees do not represent payment and are not included in the transaction amounts.* As an extra dimension to understanding our distribution, each day of each bin is further binned into ALGO amount increments. On the right side of each chart the lower bounds of each daily bin will be indicated. Example below: - 10: `10 <= x < 20` - 100: `100 <= x <200` - 900: `900 <= x <1000` Although we will be using the number of transactions as the primary indicator, we will also plot along each bin daily chart the average and median amount of ALGO sent in a transaction during each day to help us better make sense of how the transactions are distributed within each bin. - Average (mean) = *the sum of the values of all observations or data points divided by the number of observations.* - Median = *the exact middle value in a set of values that has been arranged in order from highest to lowest.* ## III. Results Below we are going to distribute *all* of the transactions from 2022 in our 5 bins. We can see that as one might have expected, transactions in the first bin are by far the most numerous. The reasons for this is that not only it is the most accessible amount for any user to transact, but it is also the amount range most likely to be used for resting purposes or to distribute smaller rewards.
