Optimistic Bears

Q9. Analyze Optimism during the month of July as markets were get turbulent, showing whatever metrics you care to unearth.

    Objectives Of this dashboard:

In this dashboard, we are going to analyze Optimism during the month of July.

We are going to find out How did the network perform over the month of JULY.

    What is Optimism?

Optimism is one of the layer 2 scaling solutions. It’s powered by a technology called Optimistic rollups, which bundle large amounts of transaction data into digestible batches. Optimism is much cheaper to use than Ethereum, and it’s increasingly becoming popular along with other layer 2s, such as Arbitrum.

What are we going to find out:

In this dashboard, we are going to find out the following metrics:

Number of Users over the month of JULY

Total txns per day over the month of JULY

Daily volume made on Optimism over the month of JULY

Success Vs Failed Transaction Frequency over the month of JULY

Success Vs Failed Txn Fess over the month of JULY

Total txn_fee on Optimism vs Polygon Vs arbitrum over the month of JULY

Gas Used over the month of JULY

Tps[Avg, sum, Max, total] over the month of JULY

    Analysis I:

In the first analysis, we are going to find out Number of users made a txn on optimism over the month of JULY

    Loading...

As we can see in the above graph, we found out how many users made a txn on optimism over the month of July

    Methodology:

To find out this we have used optimism.core.fact_transactions table from there we have counted distinct from_address and grouped that by date.

The highest number of users that made a txn was on July 27th, 2022 with ~64k and the least was on July 2nd with 6419.

    Analysis II:

In the second analysis, we are going to find out Total Txns per day over the month of July

    Loading...

As we can see in the above graph, we found out total txns per day over the month of JULY

    Methodology:

To find out this we have used optimism.core.fact_transactions table from there we have counted distinct tx_hash and grouped that by date.

The highest number of txns were done on July 29th with ~234k and the least was on July 2nd with ~56k

    Analysis III:

In the third analysis, we are going to find out Success vs Failed txn frequency over the month of JULY

    Loading...
    Loading...

As we can see in the above graph, we found out Success and failed txns over the month of July.

    Methodology:

To find out this we have used optimism.core.fact_transactions table and joined that with ethereum.core.fact_hourly_token_prices table

The highest number of successful transactions were on July 29th with ~234k and the failed txns were expected on July 29th only with ~39k.

    Analysis IV:

In the fourth analysis, we are going to find out Daily Volume made on Optimism over the month of JULY

    Loading...

As we can see in the above graph, we found out the Daily volume made on optimism over the month of JULY.

    Methodology:

To find out this we have used optimism.core.fact_event_logs table and joined that with optimism.core.fact_transactions table and we have calculated the sum(eth_value) as volume

where the txns on fact_transactions and fact_event_logs should match.

The highest volume from successful transactions was on July 28th with ~39k and the lowest volume was made on July 3rd with ~8k

    Analysis V:

In the fifth analysis, we are going to find out Success VS Failed txn fees on Optimism over the month of JULY

    Loading...

As we can see in the above graph, we found out the Success vs failed txn_fees over the month of JULY.

    Methodology:

To find out this we have used optimism.core.fact_transactions table and set the status to success for success and fail to failed ones and union them all

The highest fees for successful txns were collected on July 26th with ~0.78 and the failed txns were collected on July 21st with 0.08

    Analysis VI:

In the sixth analysis, we are going to find out What txns are being failed and the highest fees paid by failed txns over the month of JULY

    Loading...

As we can see in the above graph, we found out What txns are being failed and the highest fees paid by failed txns over the month of JULY

    Methodology:

To find out this we have used optimism.core.fact_transactions table and set the status to fail and grouped that to the address

The highest fees was paid by

    0x340c613bddddfef95988b9ec1583d44f71f6b23b - 0.155

    0xdcac4f778fb2f7157e46008787c9f12d97f4714a - 0.13

    0x7656a6df8cb25ca8082f961fae077f2ec082e6bc - 0.06

    Analysis VII:

In the seventh analysis, we are going to find compare Total Txns on Optimism Vs Polygon Vs Arbitrum over the month of JULY

    Loading...
    Loading...

As we can see from the above graph, we are going to compare the total txns on optimism vs polygon vs arbitrum

    Methodology:

To find out this, we have used optimism.core.fact_transactions, polygon.core.fact_transactions, and arbitrum.core.fact_transactions tables from those we have counted tx_hash and compared all of them.

As we can see clearly from the normalized graph, the txns made on polygon were more when compared to arbitrum and optimism.

    Analysis VIII:

In the eighth analysis, we are going to compare Total txn_fee on Optimism Vs Polygon Vs Arbitrum over the month of JULY

    Loading...

As we can see from the above graph, we are going to compare the total txn_fees paid on optimism vs polygon vs arbitrum

    Methodology:

To find out this, we have used optimism.core.fact_transactions, polygon.core.fact_transactions, and arbitrum.core.fact_transactions tables from those we have done sum(tx_fee)

    and compared all of them.

As we can see the highest tx_fee was paid on polygon compared to optimism or arbitrum. We can expect that bcoz the number of txns done on polygon were more compared to optimism and arbitrum.

    Analysis IX:

In the ninth analysis, we are going to find out Tps over the month of JULY

    Loading...

As we can see from the above graph, we found out tps over the month of JULY

    Methodology:

To find out this, we have used optimism.core.fact_blocks and joined that with optimism.core.fact_transactions and ethereum.core.fact_hourly_token_prices table

The highest tps was on July 29th with ~272k and the lowest was on July 2nd with ~59k.

    Analysis X:

In the tenth analysis, we are going to find out Average, Sum and Max TPS over the month of JULY

    Loading...
    Loading...

    Analysis XI:

In the eleventh analysis, we are going to find out Gas used over the month of July

    Loading...
    Loading...
    Loading...

As we can see from the above graph, we found out gas over the month of JULY

    Methodology:

To find out this, we have used optimism.core.fact_transactions and we have calculated the gas fee and grouped that to date.

As we can see in the third graph, the highest gas fee was paid on July 27th with ~812

    Analysis XII:

In the twelth analysis, we are going to find out Daily Txns based on distribution of DEX over the month of JULY

    Loading...
    Loading...

As we can see from the above graph, we found out Daily txns based on the distribution of DEX over the month of JULY

    Methodology:

To find out this, we have used optimism.core.fact_event_logs table we have counted and sum the count txns and grouped that with the date and project _name

As we can see in the above graph, velodrome finance based txns are more when compared to others.

    Conclusion:

    To Conclude:

From the above analyses, we found out total txns, success and failed txns, the success and failed tx_fee, what addresses have paid the highest fees for failed txns, tps[avg, sum and max], gas used, gas fee, daily volume and txns based on the distribution of dex for the month of JULY

We also compared the daily txns and daily tx_fee for optimism along with arbitrum and polygon.
