To better understand Osmosis contracts, we first must understand that Osmosis is an app chain. An app chain is any decentralized application that is a chain in itself. This is contrary to regular apps that are abstracted from the chain.

Therefore since Osmosis is an exchange, contracts are generally liquidity pool pairs. In this simple post, we shall look at the top 10 liquidity pools on Osmosis

Since May 2022, the top 10 pools on Osmosis by swap count are as follows:

    1. Pool #1 : ATOM / OSMO
    2. Pool #678 : USDC / OSMO
    3. Pool #608 : LUM / OSMO
    4. Pool #722 : EVMOS / OSMO
    5. Pool #561 : LUNC / OSMO
    6. Pool #560 : USTC / OSMO
    7. Pool #497 : JUNO / OSMO
    8. Pool #5 : DVPN / OSMO
    9. Pool #6 : ATOM / DVPN
    10. Pool #498 : ATOM / JUNO

In the chart above, let’s look at the cumulative number of Osmosis contracts (pools) launched since May 2022. We can see that there was an exponential rise in deployed contracts in the first week of May, however, there’s a sort of plateau in mid-May which many believe to be the cause of the Terra crash. Smart contract deployment picked up steam once again at the end of May.
