Before the show, a simple introduction to Velodrome and additional info regarding the metrics.

• Velodrome is a decentralized exchange (DEX) in the Optimism network, users can swap, deposit or withdraw in different LPs, stake, claim rewards and vote, their native token the VELO is one of the assets with most presence in this DEX, because with this users can swap for another assets, or lock their VELO to get veVELO an NFT which holders have the authority to participate in the votes.

  The metrics are going to be focused in user and total activity because this is the simple way to look the health of this project, i’ll include some extra data regarding liquidity pools and the VELO because these are some interesting things from this DEX.

Flipside Optimism data starts from June 2022 onwards, all the following charts have daily refresh.

There are missing data in August 5 (reported in Flipside discord), hence the low activity in that day

Brief Analysis

In Velodrome, most of the activity is only from swaps, with ~28k of unique users swapping, the rest of the activities seems meaningless, but there are not!, although 1/4 or less of these users interact with the rest of activities you can do in this DEX, their daily presence is notable and is increasing considerably, and you can see this in the following graphics regarding new users participation.

For the next graphics, because the data is fresh from June 15, all the users are considering as “news” in that day.

These graphics shows that everyday new users (some days more than “old users”) interact with the different activities in Velodrome, in July there is a lot of new and old users doing differents task in Velodrome (in comparison with June), and also in August these spikes of activity are still there.

OP, the native token of Optimism, WETH & USDC are some of the favorite assets that users swaps, but there is also the VELO, native token from Velodrome that have a lot of Activity in the LP’s, so now let’s look at how VELO moves inside Velodrome.

VELO is deposited to mint veVELO NFT (to vote) and after the unlocked date is withdrawn, we can see that there is a lot of VELO locked to be withdrawn in the future with dates reaching July 2026 as example

Summary

• Velodrome is a healthy project, and we can see that in the different metrics used in this dashboard.

  • Users: Everyday a lot of users interact with Velodrome, and we can see that the number of new users are reaching spikes in some days of august for example (spikes higher than spikes from June).
  • Activity: Although swap activity is like the ~95% of the total activity in Velodrome, in the daily activity chart, the rest of activity is increasing over time, in June for example the rest of activity presents numbers below the thousand, these activities at the end of July and August are over the thousands.
  • Assets: OP and VELO are the native tokens from the Optimism network and Velodrome respectively, and are presents in the favorite LP’s to swap, Velodrome is the favorite project for users in Optimism to swap these tokens, and looking at how the VELO is locked to mint veVELO NFT with dates reaching the year 2026, we can see that a lot of users are really confident with the future of the project.
