What is MonkeDAO?

Soon after SMB minted a separate discord named MonkeDAO was created with the intentions on forging the first community centered DAO on Solana. It is a common misconception that SMB and MonkeDAO are the same entity, I myself made the same error. SMB is the original collection which has the rights, IP, royalties, etc to the Solana Monkey Business NFT collection. MonkeDAO is a community centered discord which is only available to those who hold an SMB. Think that an SMB is a ticket to admission to MonkeDAO. At least it was this until recently when MonkeDAO purchased the rights to SMB.

The launch of SMB Gen3 was carried out in the following phases:

Why am i saying this stuff and talking about Gen3? (Must Read🚩)

Almost three months ago, in early July, The MonkeDAO launched their Gen 3 NFTs. They might be one of the biggest DAOs in the Solana ecosystem and also have the strongest community among NFT projects.

After planning so much and doing some things before the official launch on secondary markets, they conducted activities such as airdrops, public raffles, and special offerings for Gen2 holders, as they had done previously.

Gen3 was launched with specific goals, as stated by MonkeDAO:

• To pay for the acquisition of SMB rights.
• To compensate the team members of MonkeDAO.
• To establish a war chest for SMB to use for real-life events, investments, and various other utilities. The exciting part is that Gen 3 holders will gain access to all of MonkeDAO's utilities. The only catch is that only original Gen 1 SMBs will be able to vote on DAO decisions.

This collection was launched with a lot of hype on July 5th, with a massive floor price of 27 $SOL, and some NFTs were even sold for more than 500 $SOL in the first few days of the launch! However, after three months, with both Gen2 and Gen3 floors decreasing, the team completely ignored Gen3 and its holders, focusing on Gen2 to recover and bring it back into the game. The collection that had a 27 $SOL floor price in the first few days of launch is now being traded for less than 6 $SOL as the floor price.

Interestingly, some YouTubers and influencers made videos about Gen3, claiming that this collection would revive Solana's NFT community and become the next 10x gem, among other things. However, Gen3's floor price has decreased by more than 80% in only three months, and the holders have been severely disappointed by MonkeDAO.
