Introduction
In 2021 the popularity of NFTs exploded and the adoption NFTs were rapidly growth. One reason behind that growth was the launch of marketplaces that offer a good service for users across different blockchains.
After a year and the continuation of growth of NFT market some questions are still understudied. An important umbrellas question is what is the relationship between NFT type and the characteristics of NFT buyer.
This dashboard has a modest goal. It examines two questions:
- whether whales tend to buy NFT collections with a larger size or collections with a few number of minted NFTs.
- whether younger users tend to by NFT collections with a larger size or collection with a few number of minted NFTs.
Method
To test the hypotheses the relationship between the collection size and the average ALGO balance of its holder as well as the average age of holders have been tested.
Collection size is measured by the number of NFTs (ASAs) in the collection.
Age of wallet is measured by the difference between current date and the creation date in days.
The graph below shows the relationship between average age and the size of collections.
We can see that the smaller size of collections is more likely to have the average age of higher than a year.
Now we look into top 100 collections in term of average age
Among the top 100 collections in terms of average age one collection has 1501 asset and one 598. All other collections have less than 100 assets.
The graph below shows the top 100 collections in terms of average balance. We can see that the high average balance corresponds with low number of assets.
