Polygon Block Performance
What is the average time between blocks on Polygon? What was the maximum and minimum recorded time between two blocks? How many transactions are done in a block on average? How do these numbers compare to L1 such as Flow or Solana, or other L2 such as Arbitrum or Optimism?
Introduction:
Polygon is a scaling solution whose aim is to provide multiple tools to reduce the cost and complexities of blockchains while improving transaction speeds. It is a framework for building interconnected blockchain networks.
Ethereum, a platform home to various dApps, is central to Polygon’s vision. These decentralized apps have made it easy for users to interact with new financial products, buy art pieces, play games, and even join virtual worlds. However, the amount of activity on Ethereum causes network clogs and raises the cost of transactions.
Polygon seeks to address some of the challenges that face the Ethereum network, such as high transaction costs and lack of community governance, by providing a sidechain solution. Polygon is a Layer 2 solution built on Ethereum. This sidechain is not an “Ethereum killer” but was created to help Ethereum expand in efficiency, security, size, and usefulness.[1]
[1] :
We can see time average between blocks on polygon network and average time between them is almost sustainable but the max time between block is not and It’s changing over time.
The minimum transactions are done on a block is 0 but the average transaction numbers are about 80 transactions in a block and also the max transaction numbers is changing over time
I depicted 9 different chains by their parameters and we can see that in the aspect of average time between blocks Ethereum network is the slowest and Solana is the fastest and also Polygon has the 4th grade in the ranking.
In the aspect of max time between blocks Osmosis is the worst one and Algorand is the best(This parameter show the optimization of blockchain from the aspect of time between blocks)
and also Polygon has a good grade in this parameter
If we compare average Transaction are done in a block
Solana is the chain with the most transactions in a block and optimistic rollup L2s such as Arbitrum and Optimisim are just done 1 transactions in a block
from the aspect of max transactions are done in a block Solana is the fisrst one.
Optimistic rollup L2s just do one transaction in a block and the average and max numbers are the same
Method:
Polygon parameters:
1-Calculate min, average and max time between blocks on Polygon
2-Calculate min, average and max transaction numbers are done in a block
3-Show min, average and max time between blocks on Polygon by day
4-Show min, average and max transaction numbers are done in a block on Polygon by day
5-Comparison between average time between blocks and transactions are done in a block on average by day
Comparsion between chains:
1-time between blocks:
1-Show average time between blocks on different chains
2-Show average time between blocks on different chains by day
3-Show Max time between blocks on different chains
4-Show max time between blocks on different chains by day
2-transaction numbers:
1-Show Average transaction numbers are done in a block on different chains by day
2-Show Average transaction numbers are done in a block on different chains
3-Show Max transaction numbers are done in a block on different chains by day
4-Show Max transaction numbers are done in a block on different chains
Well,If we compare transaction numbers in a block and also average time between them we can see a correlation between them and It is clear that except in some point they are in a positive correlation
Conclusion:
1-time average between blocks on polygon network and average time between them is almost sustainable but the max time between block is not and It’s changing over time.
2-The minimum transactions are done on a block is 0 but the average transaction numbers are about 80 transactions in a block and also the max transaction numbers is changing over time
3-Well,If we compare transaction numbers in a block and also average time between them we can see a correlation between them and It is clear that except in some point they are in a positive correlation
4-I depicted 9 different chains by their parameters and we can see that in the aspect of average time between blocks Ethereum network is the slowest and Solana is the fastest and also Polygon has the 4th grade in the ranking.
5-In the aspect of max time between blocks Osmosis is the worst one and Algorand is the best(This parameter show the optimization of blockchain from the aspect of time between blocks).and also Polygon has a good grade in this parameter
6-Solana is the chain with the most transactions in a block and optimistic rollup L2s such as Arbitrum and Optimisim are just done 1 transactions in a block
7-from the aspect of max transactions are done in a block Solana is the fisrst one. Optimistic rollup L2s just do one transaction in a block and the average and max numbers are the same
In the end, Polygon has good form in both parameters of transaction numbers in a block and also the time between transactions.
The time between transactions of Polygon is in a sustained form and It does not change a lot over time and can Responsive to its users
