Flipside's World Cup Kick Off: Gas Guzzlers
To qualify for this tournament, create a gas tracking dashboard that looks at gas usage by a chain over the last couple of months

What is Algorand
Algorand has a unique two-tiered blockchain structure. The base layer supports smart contracts, asset creation, and atomic swaps between assets. All of these processes take place on Layer 1 of the Algorand blockchain, which helps ensure security and compatibility.
What are Validators
Validators, much like miners in a Proof-of-Work(PoW) network, are network nodes that operate in Proof of Stake (PoS) blockchains, also validating transaction blocks to the blockchain.
What is Gas in Crypto
A gas fee is a blockchain transaction fee, paid to network validators for their services to the blockchain. Without the fees, there would be no incentive for anyone to stake their ETH and help secure the network.
Methodology
In this dashboard, we are looking to compare gas fees and volume across blockchains. Additionally, we will look at the top wallets by a chain that have spent the most on gas for the network. The data for this dashboard will come from Flipside’s database.

- In the past 30 days, users spent $2.8 K on Flow gas fees. The average fee was about $0.000096.
- About 3 wallets have spent more than $200 on Flow gas fees in the past 30 days.
- There has been a drastic drop in the price of Algo on November 6th.

Ethereum
As shown on area chart at first 5 hours of the day from 00.00 to 5am average gas on Ethereum is around 508 which is lower than other hours of the day which increases from 6am until 11pm which is around 525 in those hours.
As shown on bar chart above average block gas price has been increasing in last 30 days which maxed on Nov 5 with 599, though it has been decreased in last few days.
Gas spend on Solana to $SOL Price chart shows that they both has been increasing and maxed out on Nov 5 with maximum amount of $35 for SOL price and on Nov 9 with $19K for spent gas.
solana
On the Total amount USD is 4.88M and On Average Block Gas Price hourly chart, the least average price on 4:00 is 25.43645 and the most average price on 17:00 is 33.92848.
On Average block gas price daily chart, the most average gas price on 20 October is 34.38026 and the least average gas price on 11 November is 8.836262.
In the last 30 days, the gas transaction fee spent on Algorand is equal to 347 thousand dollars
Gas in Algorand fluctuates from 00:00 until 9:00 a.m. After that, its upward trend begins until 11:00 a.m., when it reaches its peak of 0.82, and then begins a downward trend.
The price of block gas has increased in the last 30 days, seeing two spikes on October 23 and 24 with an average of 0.748 and 0.843 gas for blocks.
As shown above total USD amounts paid as gas on block chains has been calculated in which their percentages shown on donut chart and their amounts shown on bar chart.
Near has most share of spent gas with 98.7% of spent USD on gas on block chains and it’s amount is $700M, which it is 150 times more than Ethereum.
In the bar graph above, the total gas consumption costs for each chain are calculated and it is shown that Ethereum has the highest amount of fees among other chains with 4.5 million, which is almost 40 times the amount spent on the second chain, which is Solana. .
Conclusion
Although as we saw all token prices of each chain maxed out on November 5th which is interesting but their spent gas maxed on different days but most was on early November or mid and late October.
Top wallet of Ethereum has least share of spent gas fee among all other chains’ top wallet with 21% which shows that at least among top 10 wallets of Ethereum differences of
- Near’s top wallet with 300M spent on gas has most spent USD volume on gas next wallet is top wallet of Ethereum with $43K spent on gas
- Flow’s top wallet is the the top addresses on it’s chain that has the most share among top 10 addresses with the most spend on gas in the past month
- As we see in all chains average block gas price hourly has been increasing since start of mid October towards mid November in which some maxed out around November 5th-10th or on late October.
