ICNS And Its Users ( On Osmosis )
Method
- Almost all the available tables for the Osmosis network have been used to make the charts of this dashboard, but the
osmosis.core.ez_icns
table has been used the most. - The information of this dashboard is from December 19, 2022 to date.
- This dashboard includes the following sections:
- General Info
- Information of users who have taken Osmo Airdrop
- Balance size and number of users domains
- Actions of users
- With and without ICNS domin
Interchain Name Service
The InterChain Name Service is live, bringing social identity to the interchain. Like DNS and ENS, ICNS allows hard-to-read account IDs to become identifiable names and brands. This makes Osmosis and Cosmos more legible, more useful, more fun to hang out in. Chainapsis (the Keplr team) and some developers from Osmosis Labs have been heads-down completing ICNS since the middle of November, with the design period having started much earlier. The contracts are live on Osmosis (uploaded in Props 381–83), where they will likely remain during the bootstrapping phase of the project, after which they will be put on their own appchain. ICNS is an interchain-wide name service, and as such, it has been integrated into the major interchain wallets Keplr and Cosmostation, as well as Skiff (private, encrypted email) and Commonwealth governance. In addition to these integrations, ICNS differs from other naming services in its stance towards discouraging speculation and domain-name squatting. For the first year, ICNS names will be bootstrapped from Twitter names, i.e. from the crypto industry’s public square. Users can claim their Twitter names now, and their name will appear on their account in Keplr, Cosmostation, Skiff, and Commonwealth. source
Conclusion:
The topic and goal of this dashboard are pretty self explanatory, I tried to cover the information about ICNS domains and the users on Osmosis. As updated on Feb 11th of 2023 we had total number of 1.162 ICNS domains and 1.158M domain users.
The most important piece of information in the entirety of this dashboard in my opinion is in the first section which we talked about the general info. As you can see about a total number of 701 users received drops in the past. It is most possible that they were trying to receive another drop by acquiring domains and similar to the first graphs the peak of these users were reached on Dec 21st with 183 in numbers.
The most number of actions done by the users were staking and swapping as you can see in the transactions numbers based on type of their actions.
In the final sections pie charts we can see the number of ICNS domain user conclude 12.6% of the total number of users and they made around 524k number of transactions which conclude almost 8% of the total number of transactions.
- The first graph shows number of transactions of users with ICNS by action, the peak number of actions were reached on Jan 21st as you can see with around 16k number of transactions and the biggest portion of them belonged to swap actions with 4108 and the least portion went to unstaking with only 27 transactions. On Feb 10 which is the final (complete) day of the graph the number of transactions were almost over 13k as you can see. The same information can be studied in normalized form in the graph on left side of this text box.
- Based on the total number of transactions shown in the column graph above, we can see that the highest number of transactions belong to the staking type and the least number of transactions belonged to redelegating and Unstaking .
Information of users who have taken Osmo Airdrop
-
In the column form in front of us we can see the daily number of ICNS domain users who received OSMO airdrops in the past which are 701 in total based on the info updated on Feb 11th of 2023.
On Dec 21st of 2022 the peak of users was reached which were 183 in numbers as you can see after that the number of users oscillated their way down to 2 on the final day of the graph.
- In the first two boxes above you can see the total number of ICNS domains and users, last updated on Feb 11th of 2023, which are 1.162M and 1.158M respectively.
- The daily number of ICNS domains start at 659 on Dec 19th of 2022 and the numbers rise to over 197k on Dec 22nd of 2022, after that the number of domains started to fall rapidly till Feb 10 and stopped at 26 numbers.
- The daily number of new users with ICNS domains are pretty similar to the number of domains themselves in the previous graph and they go through the same arc in the mentioned time span.
- The difference between the number of domains and users can be seen in the cumulative forms in the following two graphs after daily info’s.
- The column form on the left side of this text box shows the number of users on each different blockchain who has more than one domain, the over 40k columns are pretty close in terms of quantity but the most number of users with more than one domain goes to COSMOS blockchain with about 42.923k users.
General Info
Balance size and number of users domains
- The top 20 users with the most number of ICNS domains in Osmosis are shown in the bottom right column graph as you can see in the first spot we have a user with 8 ICNS domains in Osmosis the second and third spot have 5 and 3 ICNS domains respectively.
- Top 20 users ICNS based on their held OSMO are shown in the following graph in the second row bellow, the first three top spots have 188k, 173k and 81k in order and based on the pie chart we can see that over 81% of the total ICNS users have less than $10 Osmo.
With and without ICNS domin
- As you can see in the pie charts bellow the total number of users with and without ICNS domain are around 154k and 1M which are 12.6% and 87.4% of the total users respectively.
- The total number of transactions are shown in the next pie chart which are 6.15M transactions in one segment and 524k in the other and they conclude 92.2% and 7.8% of the total number of transactions.
- The daily info of what we said in the previous 2 lines can be seen in the two graphs bellow.

Introduction
In this dashboard, we have discussed the activity of users who mined ICNS domains and we have tried to check the suspicious behavior that users have shown. To build this dashboard, we have used the data available on flipsidecrypto.com.
