How Many Polygon (MATIC) Tokens Are There in Circulation?

• MATIC tokens are released on a monthly basis. MATIC currently has a circulating supply of 4,877,830,774 MATIC tokens and a max supply of 10,000,000,000 MATIC tokens.

• At its initial private sale in 2017, 3.8 percent of MATIC’s max supply was issued. In the April 2019 launchpad sale, another 19 percent of the total supply was sold. The MATIC price was $0.00263 per token, and $5 million was generated.

• The remaining MATIC tokens are distributed as follows:

  • Team tokens: 16 percent of the total supply.
  • Advisors tokens: 4 percent of the total supply.
  • Network Operations tokens: 12 percent of the total supply.
  • Foundation tokens: 21.86 percent of the total supply.
  • Ecosystem tokens: 23.33 percent of the total supply.

• According to the release schedule, all the tokens will be released by December 2022.

• In this Bounties we want to:
  • Draw a chart showing MATIC’s circulating supply from the start till today
  • Compare it with MATIC’s price

Note:

• We use the ethereum schema and calculate MATIC’s circulating supply on ERC-20 (ethereum network).
• Currently MATIC’s circulating supply for the entire network 7,956,181,000 MATIC. But on the ethereum network that we have data on, there are 4,877,830,774 MATIC.

1 ---> MATIC’s circulating supply from the start till today

• To address this section:
  • We first find MATIC contract_address from [ethereum.core.dim_contracts] table. MATIC contract_address is 0x7d1afa7b718fb893db30a3abc0cfc608aacfebb0
  • Then we use the ethereum.erc20_balances table for calculate the circulating supply from the start till today

The charts above show the MATIC circulating supply on ERC-20 a daily basis from the start till today. According to the results, it is clear that:

• The MATIC circulating supply is increasing over time.
• The chart shows that the launchpad sale amount for MATIC increases almost once a year and some more tokens are put up for sale each year.

• To address this section:
  • We first find MATIC contract_address from [ethereum.core.dim_contracts] table. MATIC contract_address is 0x7d1afa7b718fb893db30a3abc0cfc608aacfebb0
  • Then we use the ethereum.core.fact_hourly_token_prices table for calculate the MATIC daily price from the start till today

The chart above shows the MATIC price from the beginning until now on a daily basis (Day time frame). According to the diagram, it is clear that:

• The price of MATIC has been growing from the beginning to May 19, 2021
• On May 19, 2021, the price of MATIC reached 2.455$ and then it was modified and by July 21, 2021, its price has reached 0.68$. After this date it has entered the price growth again and until Dec 27, 2021 its price has reached the highest value of 2.86$ and after that it has re-entered the downtrend channel and to date it has reached 0.617$ due to the downtrend

3 ---> Compare it with MATIC’s price

The charts above show the comparison of MATIC Circulating supply and Price. According to the charts, it can be seen:

• Circulating supply and price at MATIC have been increasing since the release of MATIC until May 19, 2021. After that date, MATIC price has entered its downward trend and the amount of circulating supply has been almost constant until July 21, 2021.
• From Jul 21, 2021, the price of MATIC has been up, and on Sep 5, 2021, the price of MATIC has reached 1.72$, and the amount of circulating supply has reached 3.45B, which is a bit lower than the previous month, which was 3.52B, and burn has probably occurred.
• After Sep 5, 2021, the amount of circulating supply has increased and the price of MATIC has also been rising. On Dec 27, 2021, the amount of circulating supply reached 4.54B and the price of MATIC reached its highest level of 2.86$, and after that, until May 11, 2022, the amount of circulating supply was almost constant, but the price of MATIC is still declining.
