Daily Active User on Osmosis
Overview
Osmosis is a network, developed through the Cosmos SDK (software development kit), using the infrastructure provided by this giant, which seeks to be a bridge between the different blockchains of this ecosystem. In addition, it provides service to projects connected through the Interblockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).
One of the most important features of the networks is its own users and their behavior on the ecosystem. One of the main goals of the blockchain projects is to retain the users and tries as well to capt the attention of others.
Methods
The intention of this dashboard is to try to take a look at teh Daily Active Users (DAU) on Osmosis to be able to see their activity and see what does a Daily Active User look like on Osmosis.
To do so, we are gonna analyze the following features:
-
DAU evolution and comparison with other users
-
DAU transactions and comparison with other users
-
DAU rate
-
DAU LP activity and comparison with other users
-
DAU swaps activity and comparison with other users
-
DAU LP vs swap activity
-
DAU transfers
-
DAU transfers orgin
Looking at the first charts, we can see the active users on Osmosis by type and the transactions done. On the one left, we can see how during the first weeks, a lot of users wer DAU. After January 2022, the activity started to increase considerably and DAU also increased but in a lower rate than other users. From the beginning until the end there has been more DAU than other users active on the network
Considering global numbers, we can see below the charts how the there are currently a total of 572k Osmosis users, among which almost 113k are DAU, reaching a rate of 0.197 equivalent to around 20% of the total users.
Taking a look at the LP activity, in terms of users we can see something similar as previously charts. During the first months, the major of the liquidity providers were DAU, but since the growth of the network, their growth rate were lower than the rest of the network. However, the LP actiivty share has been higher than 50% from the beginning until the end. In terms of actions, the activity has been considerably higher than the rest of the users since the inception.
In the other charts, it can be seen the liquidity users and actions by type of LP action. It can be seen how the major of DAU do delegations instead of undelegations. As well, some redelegations can be shown. Again, the major activity could be seen from March to May months, when the Terra UST depegging occurred.
These two charts are about the swap activity comparison between DAU and non DAU users. On the left, we can see how the activity started to increase on January 2022, as the LP activity did. In this case, the amount of DAU and non DAU users is closer. However, DAU swappers are higher as well. The amount of swaps are clearly in favor of DAU users. In this case, the number of swaps done by DAU are so higher than the rest of the users. In fact, the major of the swaps are done by this type of users.
If we compare the LP activity with swapping activity, we can see how DAU users tend to do more swaps, however, the trend line of both are so similar. Overall, 64.5% of the DAU activity is in swaps and the rest in LP.
Looking at the transactions, we can see how even the numbers are so different, the trends are still a little bit similar. While the numbers are above 100k daily, the amount of LP actions are below 100k. So far, from the total of DAU transactions, more than 86% are swaps while less than 14% LP actions.
Then, it is clear that DAU are preferring swaps than LP activity but the trends over time are similar.
Studying the transfers of DAU, we can see how again the amount of transfers icnreased from January 2022 and spiked on April. From the beginning until the end, the major of the transfers has been IBC transfers in, but during the spike period, the Osmosis transactions increased a lot.
In the rest of the charts, we can see the evolution of the top 10 senders to DAU users into Osmosis and the top projects used. It is curious the current increased of Bostrom trnsactions and the usage of BOOT token.
