Introduction and methods

Lido is a protocol that offers staking services through 'liquid pools' and without the need for custody. LDO is the native utility token that is used for not only granting governance rights in the Lido DAO, but also for other main roles like managing fee parameters and distribution or governing the addition and removal of Lido node operators.

In this analysis, we will try to get the current top 5 LDO holders and we will explore their balances in terms of current numbers and history, as well as the typical actions they do with LDO.

Results

In this first donut, we can see the distribution of tokens holded by the top 5 LDO holders. We can see how the highest amount holded is around 86.7M of LDO. Because of today's data shows that LDO price is at 1.02$ then, we will assume that this account is holding more than 86M in LDO, which is a huge quantity. On the other hand, we have other 4 wallets that are holding at least 49M of LDO each. It is curious about this wallets that all of them are holding entire numbers like 70 exact millions, two of them 50M and the other 49M.

In terms of evolution of the wallets' balances of these users, we can see how both of them started to acquire the LDO tokens in January 2021. The other 3 LDO holders, started to hodling it in June 2021. All of the users got their tokens, acquire a little bit more later and then some tokens were sold or transferred.

Finally, in terms of typical actions, we can see how there is no actions done for these top 5 LDO holders with the LDOs. However, I have explored as well the transfers and 2 of the holders appeared there. The top wallet have trasnferred some LDO to other wallets or maybe to some programmes to take more profit from it. In fact, he/she transferred a total of around 135M of LDO with an average of 1.6M LDO per transfer. On the other hand, with a lower numbers, the user on the bottom of the top 5 list transferred some LDO as well. In this case, he/she transferred a total of 1M with an average of 500k LDO.

Conclusions

In this analysis, we have explored the behaviour of the top 5 LDO holders. We have seen that the top 5 LDO holders are currenlty holding around 49M and 88M of LDO, equivalent to arround 49M and 88M USD in the current LDO rate in the market.

On the other hand, we have seen that these users haev acquired their LDO in a early stage basically to hold it. 2 of them started to acquire the tokens on January 2021 and the rest oon June 2021.

Finaally, any of these users do any action with their LDO tokens. Only two of them (the top 1 and the top 5) transferred some LDO to other wallets or programmes.
