Shuttle vs. Wormhole
Bounty: Compare Shuttle vs Wormhole across the following three metrics, over a time period of your choosing: unique users; frequency of use for each; and overlap (users who rely on both protocols). You may define ""overlap"" at your discretion - like a space shuttle exploring the cosmos, the goal is to discover interesting insights about the types of users who use each protocol individually and those who use both. Solution: The communication between blockchains has been problematic – they don’t understand each other’s protocols and can’t communicate effectively. As a result, users have difficulty moving their assets across different blockchains, resulting in a communication bottleneck. In order to solve this problem bridges are developed. Here we take a look at Shuttle and Wormhole and compare their data and users. Terra’s Shuttle bridge enabled cross-blockchain transfers for Terra users for the first time. It was only possible to send to Ethereum, Binanace and Harmony One using the Shuttle bridge. In a nutshell Wormhole allows users to seamlessly transfer tokens between Terra, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon and Binance Chain that allow tokens to be easily transferred from one blockchain to another. I choose a month from December 1st 2021 to December 30rd 2021 in order to compare these two bridges data. (from 2021-12-01 to 2021-12-30) When a user interacts with a bridge, the bridge smart contract is called and I used both bridges to find their unique contract address on Terra and do some data analytics base on these addresses. Wormhole contract address is: terra10nmmwe8r3g99a9newtqa7a75xfgs2e8z87r2sf but there is 3 different addresses for Shuttle: 1. terra13yxhrk08qvdf5zdc9ss5mwsg5sf7zva9xrgwgc 2. terra1g6llg3zed35nd3mh9zx6n64tfw3z67w2c48tn2 3. terra1rtn03a9l3qsc0a9verxwj00afs93mlm0yr7chk To find unique users of each bridge I did a query on Terra’s transactions table for each bridge in given date to find unique addresses which interacted with only one of them. So, if a user in the given date interacted with Wormhole and did not interacted with Shuttle, it is a unique user for Wormhole. first, I will retrieve each unique user and then compare them. I count any IN and OUT interact with their smart contract address. Wormhole unique users between December 1st 2021 and December 30rd 2021 :
