Conclusion

The analysis was performed on a limited set of projects to ensure that the presented data is correct & readable. There's nothing worse than drawing conclusions from incorrect data. That said, the data shows that the projects with a more restricted mint window, saw higher secondary sales. This could be because of individuals that didn't have a chance to pickup their desired NFT during mint time did so on the secondary market. A too short mint window might be restrictive towards the projects's success. Less unique individuals are involved and the success rate is seemingly determined by the marketing campaign setup by the project creator pre-mint. A too long mint window gives everyone a chance to mint their desired amount of NFTs which gives the creator project more funds but kills secondary sales. There's few demand and almost no trading happens. A possible viable strategy to ensure a healthy distribution of interest between the creator of the 'Open Edition NFT' and the marketplaces could be to: - Setup a minting window of +/- 12 hours. That should give everyone, globally, a chance to participate if they really want to but could exclude some people (such as the doubters) which then need to rely on secondary sales. - Don't make your mint too cheap. A cheap mint will attract a lot of interested parties but you risk losing out on secondary sales. Note: We could look at more factors and elements but this would bring us far beyond the time limit that has been applied for this task.
