    The Arbitrum Odyssey Snapshot Voting

On April 13, Arbitrum announced that it plans to hold the Arbitrum Odyssey campaign, and for this purpose, 56 projects that were the most used in this network among users were selected and divided into 14 groups of 4 for the users and the community of each project to choose the projects they want. Users had to vote for them to participate in this campaign. The winning projects of each group, after being selected by the users, were divided into 7 sections of 2 each, and in 7 weeks, it was decided that each of them would have its own task for the users. more info about this campaign

At first, it was decided that the voting would be done on Twitter, but after that, the Arbitrum team suspected the manipulation of the voting by bots. So Voting moved to Snapshot.

    > “We've been overwhelmed by the excitement coming from the community! However, unfortunately, the polls have been overrun by bots, so we had to move voting to Snapshot. As long as you held .0002 ETH on Arbitrum as of yesterday, you're eligible to vote.” Arbitrum Tweet

This poll became one of Snapshot's largest polls. And among other polls, this poll had one of the largest numbers of participating users. (65.44k users participated in this snapshot voting)

In contrast, 56 projects that Arbitrum chose to participate in the voting can be seen.

What we see in this dashboard:

We will have a review of the users' choice in the Arbitrum Odyssey campaign voting, including the number of participants and the start and end dates of the voting, the number of participants in each proposal, the votes of the voting winners, as well as more information about each proposal.

    Method:

With the help of the ethereum.core.ez_snapshot table, when space_id='arbitrum-odyssey.eth', the information about the snapshot voting for the Arbitrum Odyssey campaign was extracted.

    • In section 1, the general information about this voting is given, including the total number of voters, as well as the number of voters for each proposal, as well as the start and end dates of voting.

      \

    • In section 2, we will discuss the votes of each Proposal and we will have a better comparison of the winner's votes with other competitors.

Voting started on April 14, 2022, and ended on April 16, 2022. This voting was done in 14 different proposals with 4 options (selected projects). A total of 65,443 separate wallets have voted in this voting.

As can be seen, Pool1 and Pool2 had the highest numbers of participants and Pool 14 and Pool 13 had the lowest numbers of participants.

This is important from the point of view that a large number of users do not check all the items for voting and vote only because they want to participate in the voting.

Poll 11 with TREASURE DAO, VOLMEX, SLINGSHOT, and STRATOS choices had the third largest number of participants.

Some projects had special OAT or special incentives for users who voted for them, and Slingshot and Volmex projects were among these projects.

    Section 1. General infromation

A comparison between the winning vote of each proposal and the votes of other competitors

In Pool 1, Yield Protocol got a higher vote than Aave and Curve with 54% of the votes, which is an interesting point compared to the fact that these two projects are more prominent.

In Pool 2, the Hashflow project got more votes than other projects in this group (75.8% of the total). One of the possible reasons was mentioned higher.

In Pool 3, the Aboard project got more votes than other projects in this group (74.6% of the total). One of the possible reasons was mentioned higher.

In Pool 4, the TOFUNFT project, which is one of the top NFT marketplaces, received the most votes.(59.1%) which was more than Tracer DAO with 20.8%

In Pool 5, the UNISWAP project received the most votes with 51%, but the interesting point of this group is the high vote of PODS FINANCE, which received about 32% of the votes, and despite the presence of a project like UNISWAP, the high vote of this project It is noteworthy.

In Pool 6, the APEX project was selected with a high difference compared to other options with 75.5%. This project has an announcement about Airdrop Bonanza (Round 1) with a prize pool of 200,000 $APEX on April 12, 2 days before the start of voting.source

This probably had a good effect on the high vote for this project. Users are sensitive to the word AIRDROP.

In Pool 7, the 1inch project was chosen by users with 54.4%. The SYNFUTURES project, which was the second project chosen by users with 35.9%, was another project that had a special NFT for users to vote for. source

In Pool 8, the projects of IZUMI AND YIN FINANCE, which participated jointly in this voting, were chosen by users with 69.6%. The interesting thing to note is that these projects also put a special NFT for those who vote for them.

In Pool 11, there was a sensitive voting going on; All three TREASURE DAO, VOLMEX and SLINGSHOT projects have high users, but the TREASURE DAO project, which is known as the native project of the Arbitrum network and is one of the prominent NFT marketplaces in this network, was able to win this vote with 43.2%.

It was mentioned above that both VOLMEX and SLINGSHOT projects had their own incentive for the users who voted for them.

In Pool 12, the BATTLEFLY project, which is one of the prominent NFT projects in the Arbitrum network, was able to receive the highest votes with 72.6%. Even higher than the proposed BALANCER project.

IN Pool 13 and Pool 14 IDEAMARKET and SUSHISWAP projects were able to get the highest votes in their groups compared to their competitors.

In the chart above as well as the table below, the votes of the respective proposals are shown, as it can be seen, in some pools the difference between the votes is low and in some the difference is high. In section 2, these topics are fully discussed.

The Hashflow project has the highest number of votes both in its category and among the total votes. One of the reasons for the high vote for this project was the inclusion of a special incentive for users who choose this project. They randomly distributed a special NFT to 100 people, and during the Airdrop distribution, the holders of this NFT will also receive some tokens. This was an incentive for users to choose this project with a high vote. source

The Aboard exchange project was second in terms of the number of votes among all projects and was the winner of Pool 3. This project was also one of the projects that included special incentives for voters. source

Among the winners, the votes for the Treasure Dao project were the lowest. This project is one of the strongest projects in the Arbitrum ecosystem. As mentioned above, some projects had special OAT or special incentives for users who voted for them, and Slingshot and Volmex projects were among these projects. This case caused the vote related to this category to be broken, although none of the two mentioned projects was selected, Treasure Dao was selected as the winner with fewer votes.

    Noticeable Point of this Survey:

An interesting and significant point is that putting an incentive for users to vote in this campaign in some cases was able to help the projects to get high votes, and even in cases where their competitors were more well-known and prominent, they broke their votes and even make them choose.
