Algorand Fees 2022
Q111. Algorand recently turned 3 years old as a blockchain!
One of the main advantages for a user of Algorand is the extremely low fees relative to other blockchains.
Create a visualization showing the cost of transaction fees per day accumulated since the beginning of January 2022.
1 - What wallets have conducted the most transactions and spent the most on fees?
2 - How much have users on Algorand spent on transactions in total?
Initial Thoughts
There is a clear downtrend on daily transactions and fees payed by users since January 2022.
This could be attributed to a lower interest in the Algorand ecosystem but, by looking at data since January 2021 (Appendix 1) it’s clear that the decline in activity coincides with the start of the bear market in -insert bear market start date- and the following overall market decrease.
Daily Fees and Transactions
Algorand shows a capacity to handle more transactions without a noticeable impact on fees paid by users.
As seen in the Daily Transactions vs Daily Total Fees graph the daily total fees paid by users have a linear relationship with the daily transactions, indicating that the Algorand ecosystem can handle the increase in activity without a explosion of fee per transaction.
A linear regression shows a R Squared of 0.924 further providing strength to the assumption that the increase in activity does not affect fees paid per transaction.
