Unique Solana Programs
Q92. One way to track developer growth in an ecosystem is through the number of unique contracts used. Create a visualization of the number of unique programs used per day since the beginning of January.
\n In this study, we will find out
- The number of unique programs used per day since the beginning of January.
- What type of programs are the most popular
- What programs seem to be gaining in popularity over that timeframe?
- Does it appear that development is still ongoing in the bear market?
\n
Methodology
- Find the number of unique programs interaction count per day since January.
- Find the top 10 Solana programs since January in terms of unique user count.
- Distributed the unique user count from each program into four categories (NFT, Stake/Farm, Swap, and Others).
- Get the program’s popularity by counting the daily unique user count and comparing them.
- Analyze the development trends in the bear market by calculating the daily user difference percentage with their baseline.
- Summarize and analyze all the development trends.
Does it appear that development is still ongoing in the bear market?
One of the best measures for determining the development of Solana programs is to compare their daily unique user count to their January 1st user count.
In the next section, we will look in-depth at this metric from the top ten Solana programs.
Conclusion
- Pyth and Serum interact frequently, especially before April. Then it fell precipitously before rebounding around June.
- Magic Eden has had the most unique users (27.3 percent) since January, followed by Raydium (22.3 percent), Jupiter (17 percent), and Serum (15 percent) (12.1 percent )
- In terms of program categories, NFT has the most unique users (389k or 34.9 percent of all users), followed by Stake/Farm (272k) and Swap (13k or 1.17 percent).
- Jupiter's unique user change percentage increased from 5% to 14.6 percent during this time period.
- Magic Eden had the most unique users (21k) on January 1st, followed by Raydium and Serum at roughly 10k and 9k, respectively.
- Also, Magic Eden, Solsea, and Solanart have all lost popularity over time in terms of percentage difference.
- Several Solana projects have dropped user count when compared to their baseline.
- When compared to their baseline, practically all of the main NFT platforms, including Magic Eden, Solanart, and Solsea, have seen a drop in user counts.
- However, not all of the programs have less than their baseline, and Jupiter, Solend, and Metaplex have grown in popularity even in this bad market.
- We can imply that, Solana NFT programs are less popular currently than they were in January.

Data from flipsidecrypto
Since 2022, the graphs display the top ten Solana most popular programs (based on unique user count) and by percentage. Surprisingly, Magic Eden has the most unique users (27.3 percent), followed by Raydium (22.3 percent), Jupiter (17 percent), and Serum (12.1 percent ).
Serum, on the other hand, has the largest interaction count, with 1.14 billion interactions since 2022.
The graphs show the daily interaction count for the Solana program, and by normalized since January 1st. On a daily basis, we can observe that Pyth and Serum have a high interaction rate, particularly before April. Then it dropped dramatically before rebounding around June.
To find out that what type of Solana programs are the most popular, we will categorized all programs into four main categories.
Including,
-
Swapping
-
Staking/Farming
-
NFT(ing)
-
Other (e.g. general contract, IDO)

We can see that, since 2022, if we ignored ‘Other category’, NFT has the most unique user count at 389k or 34.9 percent of the total users, followed by Stake/Farm at 272k, Swap has the least user count at 13k or only 1.17 percent.
In this section, we will look at the program with the highest cumulative unique user count since 2022. Jupiter had an amazing unique user change percentage over the period, increasing from 5% to 14.6 percent on July 1st. In July, Magic Eden dropped from 43 percent to less than 30 percent.
Overall, Raydium, Jupiter, and Serum appear to be growing in popularity during the last six months from 2022.
The graphs show the daily user difference between the top ten Solana applications and their baselines (1st Jan).
We can see that the Magic Eden has the biggest dropped in user differences, notably after Mid-February. Interestingly, in terms of percentage difference, Magic Eden, Solsea, and Solanart have definitely lost popularity, with the user difference dropping to about -99 percent after July compared to their baseline.
These charts show the overall patterns from the daily cumulative unique user percentage difference with their baseline by program (left) and combined (right) to round out the Solana program trends during this bad market.
According to the data, the popularity patterns of the Solana programs had fewer users than their baseline on January 1st. Total trends have been slipping below their baseline since mid-April.
Strangely, almost all of the major NFT platforms, including Magic Eden, Solanart, and Solsea, have suffered a drop in user counts when compared to their baseline. Perhaps this shows that NFT is less popular now than it was in January.
However, not all of the programs have less than their baseline, and even in this bear market, Jupiter, Solend, and Metaplex have gained in popularity.
To address the question, Does it appear that development is still occurring in the bear market? the answer is yes, particularly from Jupiter, Solend, and Metaplex.
This graph illustrates the cumulative user difference percent change over time to assist us in better understanding the trends.
When compared to their baseline, several Solana programs have lost user count.
However, not all of them have declined in popularity, we can observe that Jupiter, Solend, and Metaplex have climbed in unique user count when compared to their baseline, with the highest is Jupiter that increasing by more than 17k percent cumulatively.
To determine development trends, we will first collect the unique user count of all ten most popular Solana programs on January 1st.
As this chart shows, on January 1st, Magic Eden had the most unique users (21k), followed by Raydium and Serum at around 10k and 9k respectively.
Next: Let's consider the top ten programs' unique user count on January 1st (above chart) as a baseline and see if there is development for each program throughout the 6-months study period.
