Introduction

Volatility in financial markets refers to changes in the price of an asset. It can be healthy, with steady increases or decreases in price within a general range. It can also be extreme, with sudden price movements in either direction. Healthy volatility serves many purposes in a market, but it mainly creates opportunities for profit. For example, stock price changes enable traders to buy low and sell high, or “short” a stock they expect to decrease in price. Extreme volatility occurs when an asset’s price changes rapidly within a short time. (Source)

Methodology

The following methods are used in this dashboard:

• First I used the flipside_prod_db.ethereum_core.ez_dex_swaps table and got the total amount of tokens sold and bought (as Swapped Into and Swapped From) in these seven days.

• Then the 10 tokens that were sold the most and bought the most were obtained along with the amount they bought or sold on the USD scale.

Results

• In this particular week, the number of swaps has had an upward trend. From May 8 to May 12, we saw a 47 percent increase in the number of swaps.

• It can be seen that the first and second rank of the highest number of swaps occurred in May in the same week (May 12 (first rank) and May 14 (second rank))

• In this particular week in each parameter, you can see an upward trend.

• It is noteworthy that although the largest number of swaps in this month occurred in this particular week, but the highest amounts in the USD scale occurred on other days. (May 5 and 6)

• But if we pay attention to this particular week, on May 13, the number of Swaps Into and on May 12, the number of Swaps From is the highest.

• In both parameters (number of token bought/sold and the amount of tokens bought/sold in USD scale), the first to third ranks are for these three tokens:

  1. WETH
  2. USDC
  3. USDT

• Note the presence of LUNA and UST tokens in the list of top 10 tokens purchased. Tokens that experienced a very sad fate this month and were almost completely destroyed.

• The share of often over 60% of WETH tokens in both sales and in both parameters, shows the importance of this token.
