[THORChain] - Swaps to $THOR

Bounty Question: On May 4th, $THOR staking was enabled that yielded rewards for stakers based on THORSwap volume. Did we see a spike of swaps to $THOR around that time? Has there been any noticeable change in $THOR swapping since that event?

    Introduction

The launch of $THOR Staking 2.0 marks great leap forward for the sustainability of the THORSwap protocol. Users can stake $THOR to receive $vTHOR, a composable, auto-compounding, gas-efficient representation of your staking position. (1)

$vTHOR is the new membership staking token that offers generous rewards and benefits to active THORSwap participants and users. $vTHOR is built as a Tokenized Vault Standard (ERC-4626) on Ethereum, a new standard which allows composability and apps to be built on top of its functionality. (2)

    Refrences:

    1. $THOR Staking 2.0 is Live
    2. vTHOR (Staking v2)

    Methodology

The following parameters were extracted using the table of swaps destined for $ THOR:

    • Daily number of swaps
    • Daily amount of swaps (in USD scale)
    • Assets swaped to $ THOR (number of swaps each and amount of swaps in USD)

    • Did we see a spike of swaps to $THOR around that time? You can say yes to this question, but this spike has not been continuous. In the first 10 days of activating THOR Staking 2.0, we see a sharp upward trend, so that on May 12 (which is the highest number of swaps) we can see an increase of almost double compared to May 4.

    • This increase in the number of swaps has resulted in an almost similar increase in the amount of swaps. In general, the trend of number of swaps and the amount of swaps after activating THOR Staking 2.0 are more similar than before.

    • Among the assets swaped to THOR, BNB.BUSD-BD1 has the largest share in both the number of swaps and the amount of swaps. (In both parameters, the share is about 44%)
