Aave Delegates' Gas Usage
This analysis will cover the gas used for voting on AAVE governance. Specifically, I aim to determine the amount of gas used by delegates for voting in Aave over the past 90 and 180 days, as well as the average amount of gas spent per vote by voters. To achieve this, I have conducted an in-depth analysis of the following parameters within AAVE:
-
Voting activities
-
Total and average fees in ETH
-
Total and average fees in USD
-
Breakdown of users based on the fee amount
-
Top proposals based on the highest average fee
-
Comparison of fees from 6, 3, and 1 month ago
Aave is a protocol that operates fully decentralized manner and is governed by the community of AAVE token-holders. The AAVE token-holders collaborate to discuss, propose, and vote on updates to the protocol.
These token-holders, limited to the Ethereum network, can either vote on new proposals themselves or delegate their voting power to an address they choose.
Flipside offers a dedicated table for AAVE voting transactions. I merged the AAVE vote table with the Ethereum transactions table to determine the voting fees using transaction hashes. I also retrieved the ETH price and calculated the transaction fee in USD, resulting in fees in both ETH and US dollars.
