Introduction

Optimism is an Ethereum Layer 2 platform that provides users with an educational and rewarding experience through its various programs. One such program is the Optimism Quests, which allows users to learn about different apps on the Optimism ecosystem by reading, taking quizzes, and completing tasks. The reward for completing these quests is a commemorative NFT that represents the completion of the respective quest. Eligibility to participate in the Quests is open to anyone with a wallet that supports the Optimism network. Another program on Optimism is the Attestation Station, which is an attestation smart contract deployed on the platform. The purpose of the Attestation Station is to provide a permissionless and accessible data source for builders creating reputation-based applications, enabling anyone to make attestations about other addresses. This dashboard seeks to analyze the quality of users attracted by the Optimism Quests and Attestation Station. To measure the quality of users, various metrics will be used such as frequency of transactions, volume of transactions, engagement with the platform, and retention rate. By analyzing the users of both the Quests and Attestation Station, we hope to gain insights into what makes a good user on the Optimism platform.

For the purposes of this dashboard, a good user is defined as someone who has been active for many months, has spent a lot on gas fees on the platform, and interacts with a high number of smart contracts on the blockchain. To measure the quality of these users, we have identified three key metrics: active use over a long period of time, spending a lot on gas fees on the platform, and interaction with a high number of smart contracts. These metrics provide a clear understanding of the level of engagement and resource allocation by users on the platform. A user who has been active for many months is likely to have a deeper understanding of the platform and a higher level of investment in the ecosystem. Spending a lot on gas fees indicates that a user is willing to allocate resources to the platform, while interaction with a high number of smart contracts shows that the user is actively engaging with the platform and contributing to its growth. Together, these metrics provide a comprehensive view of the quality of users on the Optimism platform and can be used to drive improvements and attract more quality users who are invested in the platform's growth and success.
