Introduction

What is a layer 2?

An independent blockchain acting in concert with Bitcoin or Ethereum, which retroactively became known as a "Layer 1 chain" or "main chain." Layer 2 chains process new transactions faster while reducing the load on Layer 1 and typically taking much lower fees. some popular Ehtereum layer twos are Polygon, and Optimistic roll ups.

What is Hop?

Hop Protocol is a way to connect different scaling solutions, facilitating a better user experience when moving assets. Hop currently supports the transfer of funds ETH, USDC, MATIC, DAI, and USDT from and to the networks Mainnet, Polygon, Optimism, Arbitrum, and xDai.

Methodology

• We are going to look at trasfer events from Ethereum to Polygon using Hop

• We are looking to see if we can find any trends amoungst these transfers.

Conclusion

• Most days between 10 and 30 Hop transactions are executed from Ethereum to Polygon using hop.

• Most days between 30,000 and 80,000 Matic was transferred from Ethereum to Polygon using hop.
