What is Optimism?

Optimism is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that can support all of Ethereum's Dapps. Instead of running all computation and data on the Ethereum network, Optimism puts all transaction data on-chain and runs computation off-chain, increasing Ethereum's transactions per second and decreasing transaction fees.

What is the OP token?

the OP token is the governace token of the Optimism network.

How does Optimism deligation work?

A delegate is someone you select to make governance decisions on your behalf. You still retain full ownership of your tokens, but your delegate will wield the voting power associated with those tokens. You can delegate to anyone, including yourself.

Methodology

In this dashboard we are looking to see fequency of OP deigations, OP deligations by deligations type, and top deligators. The data for this dashboard comes from the optimism.core.fact_delegationstable in Flipside’s database and starts June 15th 2022.

Observations

• Since June 15th there has been 28.27K delegation events to 14.54K delegates.
• each data there has been between 200 and 1,400 delegation events sent to between 100 and 900 delegates.
• Most users who have delegated OP have only delegated one time since June 15th.
• There has been a consistent about of OP delegation for the past 2 months.

Observations

• The percent of first-time delegations has been decreasing over the past 2 months from 50% to about 22% of delegations.
• the least popular type of OP delegations are Self-delegations.
• In the past 2 months Fist time delegation and redelegation have increased as a percent of delegations.

Observations

• The top 10 OP delegates have received between 372 and 2349 delegations
• The top 10 OP delegates make up 30% of all OP delegates
• the top 10 address that have been re-delegated from have had between 137 and 657 times
• over 99% of all delegation transactions have succeeded

Conclusion

Since June 15th there has been 28.27K delegation events to 14.54K delegates. Most users who have delegated OP have only delegated one time since June 15th. In terms of delegations type first time delegations make up the majority of delegations but, have been decreasing as a percent of total delegations in the past 2 month. The top 10 delegators make up 30% of all addresses receiving OP delegations. Overall, there has been a lot of consistent activity in OP delegation on Optimism.
