Methodology

We are looking to see who is deploying and how often contracts are being deployed to NEAR. In this dashboard we will specifically look at Near contract deployment. We will visualize the following metrics:

• Daily / NEAR contracts deployed
• Top Near contract Depoyers
• Top new NEAR contract by number of interactions

In this dashboard a new contract will be defined as a contract that has at least 1 interaction and the contracts deployment time will be defined as the time at which the deploy contract function was executed on the contract for the first time. Additionally new contracts will be defined as contracts deployed in the past 90 days

What is NEAR?

NEAR is a Proof-of-Stake blockchain that uses sharding technology to achieve scalability. One of the large difrentional factors of NEAR from other L1 blockchains is the Host of user friendly features such as human-readable accounts , and the ability for new users to interact with dApps and smart contracts without requiring a wallet at all.

What are Smart Contracts?

Smart contracts are simply programs stored on a blockchain that run when predetermined conditions are met. They typically are used to automate the execution of an agreement so that all participants can be immediately certain of the outcome, without any intermediary's involvement or time loss.

Observations

• In the past 90 days there have been between 5 and 30 contracts deployed on NEAR each day, totalling 1101 contracts.
• 98% of the contracts deployed in the past 90 days have between 1 and 10 interactions and only a few have over 10 interactions.
• The new contract with the most transactions has 52 transactions.

Observations

• The top 5 contracts by the number of interactions on NEAR in the past 90 days are app.nearcrowd.near, v2.ref-farming.near, login.learnclub.near, marketplace.paras.near, and zomland.near. These 5 contracts make up ~50% of the smart contract interactions on NEAR in the past 90 days.
• Smart contract use on near is very distributed with long tail contracts making up nearly 50% of smart contract interactions on the Network.
• Over the past 90 days the number of daily smart contract interactions on NEAR have dropped from about 6,000 per day to about 3,000 per day.

Observations

• There is a small correlation between the number of NEAR contract interactions per day and new contracts deployed per day.
• Since June 13th there has been a decline in the number of contract interactions and new contracts deployed each day.
• Between July 17th and 31st there has been a surge in new contracts deployed.

Conclusion

In the past 90 days there have been 1101 contracts deployed near, most of these contracts have less than 10 interactions in total. The top 5 contracts on NEAR have made up about 50% of all contract interactions on the chain in the past 90 days. The activity of NEAR contract users and Deploys has been somewhat correlated for the past 90 days, seen by the fact that both the number of contract interactions and deployments have been declining together.
