Timing the market, or time in the market?
Methodology
We are looking to see address that have purchased ETH and have held it for over 2 years without selling the token. To understand how active these wallets are on Ethereum we will create the following visualizations:
- Total Number of long term ETH holders
- Average ETH holders number of transactions
- Top contracts used by long term ETH holders
In this dashboard a long term ETH holder is a user who has held ETH for over 2 years without selling the token.
What is True Freeze?
True Freeze is a platform that allows users to lock WETH for anywhere between 1 day and 1,100 days. This puts ETH into the future, removing it from circulation. In exchange for this, the mint freezer-ETH (frETH) yield tokens and get a Certificate of Deposit Freezer NFT. When the NFT matures, it can be redeemed at no cost for the underlying WETH. Redeeming the NFT prior to its maturity date requires fees. The fees are paid to stakers of the Freezer Revenue Token (FRZ).
What are Freezer NFTs?
Freezer NFTs are Certificates of Deposit. Each NFT is backed 1:1 with WETH locked in the system.
What is frETH?
Freezer-ETH is a yield token (frETH) is your tokenized proof of patience. When a user locks ETH into the future they are committing to HODL that ETH.
Observations
For both long term ETH holders and non- long term ETH holders the two most popular contracts to interact with are WETH and Uniswap V2. The Tethere token USDT is much more popular amongst non-longterm ETH holders than the group of longet ETH holders.
Conclusion
Overall there is only a small number of users that ve bought ETH multiple times and have not sold their holdings for over 2 years. This small group of users interact with the same top contracts as other users on Ethereum. in Total longterm ETH holders have only bought 12 ETH Using DEXs.
