What is an ERC-20?

An ERC20 token is a standard used for creating and issuing smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Smart contracts can then be used to create smart property or tokenized assets that people can invest in. ERC stands for "Ethereum request for comment," and the ERC20 standard was implemented in 2015.

What is SHIB?

Created in August 2020 by a founder called Ryoshi, Shiba Inu takes its moniker from the cuddly dog of the same name. And don’t get it confused with the similarly canine-themed Dogecoin which features the same breed as its mascot. Instead, Shiba Inu calls itself a “Dogecoin killer.”

Methodology

In this dashboard we will look at the transfers, swaps, and holdings of the SHIB tokens on Ethereum. We are looking to see how the activity of this token has changed over time. The data for this dashboard will come from the ethereum.core table of Flipside’s database.

SHIB transfers

Observations

• There were two spikes in SHIB transfer activity in May and November of 2021
• In total there has been 2 Million wallets that have transferred 145 Billion USD worth of SHIB tokens
• The average size of a SHIB transfer has consistently been over $4,000 since May 0f 2021
• Since the beginning of 2022 there has been a consistent number of SHib transactions each day

1. More thn 50% SHIB transfers are below $1,000
2. Over 75% of SHIB trasfer volume is in transaction of size over $100,000
3. The largest grop of shib trasactions are between $100 and $1,000

Observations

• Almost all of the SHIB swaps on Ethereum are on Uniswap v2 and v3
• The swap volume of sib has been declining since mid May 2021
• There is a large number of SHIB pools but the SHIB-WETH LP makes up over 70% of the swaps and volume
• Other than ETH, SHIB is often swapped with the BONE token

Observations

• Of the top 10 SHIB holders all of them hold over $100 million worth of SHIB tokens.
• Over 800K wallets hold under $100 worth of SHIB
• The vast majority of SHIB tokens are held by wallets holding over $10 million worth of SHIB
