What is a layer 2?

Layer 2 (L2) is a collective term to describe a specific set of Ethereum scaling solutions. A layer 2 is a separate blockchain that extends Ethereum and inherits the security guarantees of Ethereum.

What is Gnosis?

Gnosis is an open-source, decentralized prediction market built on the Ethereum blockchain. Users are able to create markets where they can speculate on any event or arbitrary outcome. By using the Ethereum Protocol, Gnosis is able to guarantee a secure and transparent ecosystem.

What is Rinkeby-xDai AMB?

The main use case of the Arbitrary Message Bridge (AMB) between the Rinkeby Testnet and the xDai chain is to relay tokens emitted by Reddit (e.g. Moons and Bricks) to a chain with real value (xDai) through the AMB extensions.

There was recently a spike in activity on the Gnosisis chain in this dashboard we will look to see where this activity has come from. the data for this dashboard will come from the

gnosis.core tables of Flipside’s database.

Gnosis Activity Overview

Observations

• In total there are 1.97 million users on the Gnosis chain
• The number of new users has been declining since June 2021
• There was a spike in new users and transactions on Gnosis In early October

Gnosis activity change

Observations

• Between October 4th and October 8th the number of transactions hourly jumped from about 2,000 per hour to 12,000 per hour.
• Between October 4th and October 8th the average gas price per transaction dropped about 75%.
• Between October 4th and October 8th The number of transactions per block jumped from and an average of 4.7 - 16.7.

Rinkeby-xDai AMB Activity

Observations

• The three address 0xf38f1a8e0dab6a8df95a29135796ae39137b9cee, 0x0681f11412c27035f694d7bd6691bf03fb413ff3, and 0xcbfe6a67319d85b0ad56fd4d7d6d13c26e141904 sent out about 2K - 5K transactions per hour
• The transactions sent out from the 3 addresses were sent to the Rinkeby-xDai AMB almost all of these transactions failed.
• The Activity seems to be some sort of network spam/attack
