Optimism: User Behavior
How is user behavior different on Optimism compared to L1?
In this dashboard, we will compare the user behavior of Optimism to Ethereum by looking into
- daily swap volume
- daily active users
- daily average transaction fee
First, let's look the daily swap volume on Optimism and Ethereum.
As we can see from the graph above, daily swap volume on Optimism and Ethereum follow closely to each other. On most days, swap volume on Ethereum is about 10-20% more than that on Optimism.
In terms of daily active users, we can see that Ethereum has a much higher number of active users as compared to Optimism. On average, there are around 5-20k active users on Optimism while there are around 300-350k active users on Ethereum. This is more than 15 times more active users on Ethereum than on Optimism.
Lastly, we will look at daily average transaction fees on Optimism and Ethereum.
In terms of gas fees, we can see that average transaction fees on Optimism is order of magnitude lower than that on Ethereum. Low gas fees on Optimism might the reason why the swap volume on Optimism close to Ethereum despite having much less users.
