Solana Q9- Vote!

Create a visualization that compares the number of non-vote transactions to vote transactions per block since the start of February. What is the average ratio of votes to non-votes in a block? Have there been any timeframes of noticeable fluctuations of this ratio?

Solana is a faster blockchain with cheaper gas/transaction fees. Solana uses validators to verify blocks to be added to the blockchain and these votes by validators are also been added to the block.

Before diving into block-level let's look at the macro level first, how many blocks have been added per day and what percentage of votes per day.

(Note: For this analysis, we will be looking at data till the previous day because the current day is still young :)).

Looking at this chart we can see the vote to non-vote ratio always hovers around 2 and 3, the minimum being 2.49 on the 3rd of Feb while the maximum being 3.76 on the 13th of Feb. Also, the number of blocks added to the chain is also consistent which is around 137.9K to 147.9K. However, one trend we can see from Feb 3 to 13th is that the vote to non-vote ratio per day was increasing on average barring a few days.

We can see that when the number of transactions is high the number of blocks is also increasing but there's no conclusive evidence to find any strong correlation with the vote to non-vote ratio.

On the minute scale, we can see a few anomalies where votes to non-vote ratio rise above 8 but there are no very clear patterns but one can argue that since the 7th of February the distribution of vote to non-vote ratio has shortened a bit as only very few times that votes to non vote ratio go below 2 in that time period compared to the early days.

We can easily see a cluster forming around 60-120 blocks per minute and 1.5 - 2.5 votes to non vote ratio range. Inside that cluster, it shows that when the number of transaction per minute goes up the number of blocks also go up but there's no clear correlation with vote-non vote ratio.
