What is Snapshot?

Snapshot is a place where projects can create proposals for people to vote on using cryptocurrency. In the industry, this process is called ‘vote signaling’. Traditionally, to vote using cryptocurrency would normally incur fees to process the movement of currency from one wallet to another. But on Snapshot, that doesn’t happen, thanks to the clever use of the decentralized storage network called IPFS. Because Snapshot doesn’t use ‘on-chain’ verification, any votes are essentially fee-less.

In this dashboard, I will answer this question from Flipside Crypto:

• What trends do you see between governance behavior between the two chains? Does a platform seem to capture more market share of its users on their respective chain than the other? What seems to influence voting behavior on each platform? Does one platform have more proposals and voting opportunities than the other? Are whales more powerful on Realms or on Snapshot? How can each platform become more decentralized?

Conclusion

• Realms had experienced nearby 4.6K users since inception and most number of this user per month was in May with nearby 1.5 and April has second place while Snapshot had experienced nearby 1.14M users since inception and most number of this user per month was in Aug with nearby 284K.
• Realms had experienced nearby 25.8K Votes since inception while Snapshot had nearby 6M Votes since inception.
• Realms had nearby 4.7 Proposals since inception while Snapshot had nearby 54K.
• Realms had only 18 DAOs while Snapshot had nearby 6.6K DAOs.
• it seems snapshot is most successful off chain program for voting but we should consider Realms only available on Solana Network while Snapshot Support every chain.
• but in recent months Snapshot experienced increase in term of number of users but Realms did not has this trait.
