Saber Locked Over Time

Q46. Review the scavenger hunt (dropping Monday!) on veSBR for an explanation on the Saber Wars! Create a visualization showing the amount of SBR locked in governance over time since January 1st. Are there any notable trends on when SBR has been locked or wallets have exited from their locked positions? For example, have there been certain dates when we can expect there to be more locking activity than others? Provide some insight on locking behavior.

    Introduction

Saber is Solana's leading cross-chain stablecoin exchange, providing the liquidity underpinning for stablecoins, which are cryptocurrencies with a value tied to another asset. Market makers put crypto into a Saber liquidity pool in order to gain passive income from transaction fees, token-based incentives, and eventually automated DeFi tactics.

The solana.fact_gov_actions table is used to pull out these data. The analysis is in a daily timeframe. Firstly, the Lock and Exit events are counted on a daily basis, then the amount of mentioned events are summed up. Secondly, the percentage of locked amounts overall of the locked and exited amounts are calculated. And finally the percentage of locked transactions is calculated, then the net total amount of locked SBR is derived by subtracting the exit amounts from locked amount.

The above chart is about the number of lock transactions and exit transactions (in first chart). The second chart is about the amount of SBR tokens locked and exited individually.

The percentage amount of locked and exited SBR tokens is illustrated in the above chart. It is obvious that the amounts are exiting on weekends mostly or the day before a weekend. However, the locking amounts are more on other days. The following scatter chart also shows the same result. In weekends there are lower Lock transactions relative to other days.

In summary, the total SBR tokens are locked are about 366M SBRs. The weekends has more exit transactions relative to the other official week days.
