Flow Bounties: Crossover with NBA Top Shot
Q9. Which Flow NFT projects appear to have the most crossover of buyers with NBA Top Shot addresses? Is NBA Top Shot an effective onboarding tool in getting users interested into other Flow collections? Does this crossover tend to come from Top Shot "whales", or does the crossover come from average to smaller players? How can Flow projects better attract liquidity from Top Shot players?
Flow is a fast, decentralized, and developer-friendly blockchain, designed as the foundation for a new generation of games, apps, and the digital assets that power them. It is based on a unique, multi-role architecture, and designed to scale without sharding, allowing for massive improvements in speed and throughput while preserving a developer-friendly, ACID-compliant environment.
This report analyses a number of issues related to the NBA TopShot NFT collection in Flow. In particular, it will analyse:
-

-
Is NBA Top Shot an effective onboarding tool in getting users interested into other Flow collections?

-
- TopShot represents more than 75% of sales since May 9th.
- The TOP 3 has had more than 90% of the sales volume.
- After checking all the NFT collections we can say that the Flow NFT project that appear to have the most crossover of buyers with NBA Top Shot addresses is PackNFT.
- We have 6200 common wallets that have ever bought an TopShot NFT and a Pack NFT.
NBA Top Shot allows users to buy, sell, and collect NBA NFTs that showcase influential “Moments” minted on the FLOW blockchain. Some Moments are rarer than others, with the rarest versions being worth the most. Therefore all those users interested in the NBA or simply NBA fans could be potential customers of other collections in FLOW as it would not be the first time they interact with FLOW. Consequently, in my opinion, NBA Top Shot is an effective onboarding tool in getting users interested into other Flow collections.
In order to anlayse if does this crossover tend to come from Top Shot "whales" or come from average to smaller players we have decided to calssify the different users by the quantity of NBA TopSHot NFT holding. I used this 3 tiers to classify them:
- n_NFT <= 10 then 'Tier 1: Crab'
- n_NFT <=100 and n_NFT > 10 then 'Tier 2: Doplhin'
- n_NFT >= 100 'Tier 3: Whale'
- This chart classifys the users by tier and by number of TopShot holding.
- All the users represented in this chart are holding at least 1 NBA TopShot NFT and 1 PackNFT.
- Tier 2: Doplhin has the market dominance.
Last but not least, other NFT projects could try to attract liquidity to their projects from NBA TopSHot users by doing some kind of collaboration on their NFT collections or by releasing exclusive NFTs that can only be held by users who previously have a TopShot NFT for example.
