what is optimism?
Using cutting-edge data compression techniques, optimism settles Ethereum transactions on another blockchain quickly and cheaply. The secret ingredient of Optimism's scaling methodology is right there in the name: optimistic rollups. Using this strategy, many transactions are combined into a single transaction, settled on a different blockchain, and then their receipts are fed back into the main Ethereum network.
Optimism Airdrop
The first airdrop from the Optimism Foundation thanks people who have contributed by being early adopters and engaged users of projects inside the ecosystem. The Optimism Foundation also extends a warm welcome to active L1 contributors who can aid in scaling Ethereum's innovations, culture, and ideals to Layer 2. The total number of addresses that can claim OP in this initial airdrop is 248,699 addresses.
Airdrop #1 from Optimism contains six sets of requirements. Four for L1 Ethereum, which target active involvement, active donation, and positive-sum behaviors, and two for Optimism users, which target early adopters and active project users Each set is unique, thus one address may be qualified for more than one and given the appropriate number of tokens.
According to the Optimism documentation, 214748364.8 Op tokens, or 5% of the entire supply of Op tokens, will be given away in the first airdrop.
Metric and method
The information for the fact event logs, fact hourly token prices, fact token transfers, and fact delegations tables of the core schema of the Optimism database was combined to provide the data for this analysis. Filtered by the Airdrop contract address, the first table showed details on the Airdrop claims: 0xfedfaf1a10335448b7fa0268f56d2b44dbd357de. and the incident that was emitted was claimed. To link the metrics collected with the $OP price, the second table was merged with the first one.
Address of $OP contract: 0x420000000000000000000000000000000042 The information pertaining to purchase and sell transactions of $OP was presented in the third table. The last table helped in gathering the delgation information for the Airdrop claimants.

From stats below it can be seen that number of eligible users were 249k and about 150.8k people received airdrop which mean that 60.6% of Users claimed optimism.
coming up to volume amount it shows that there were 215M allocated OP tokens and about 159.9M of them actually airdropped which makes 74.4 percent of claimed OP tokens.

stats and charts below show amount of people holding their OP tokens after airdropped, and from pie chart it can be understood that 10.5 percent of people who claimed the tokens are still holding them ; nearly half of non-holders swapped and LP their tokens (46.7%),and other half of non-holders (43.8%) transferred their tokens.

from stats and charts below it can be seen that the vast majority of users delegated within first 2 days and most tokens were delegated within first 2 days as well.

conclusion:
According to the analysis, 150.8K users who were eligible for the Optimism airdrop claimed it, whereas roughly 98.2K of those individuals did not.
It was claimed that about 159.9 million OP, or about 74.4% of the total airdrop amount, was distributed. 25.6% of the total amount of the airdrop was also not claimed.
134.9k users, or around 89.5% of users who claimed OPs, preferred to not hold their tokens .
