Sushiswap is one of the most popular DEXes in the Ethereum. Despite its questionable origin story, it has regained most of its status since its ignominy

In this dashboard we will track the monthly swap volume through Sushiswap and compare it with its main competitor, Uniswap v3.

We will use the swap data availble in the ethereum.dex_swaps to create this dashbaord, by aggregating data by month.
The swap volume will be in US Dollars.

    In terms of Volume -

    • Uniswap is still the king, its network effect as well as deep liquidity is a major factor in these.
    • Sushiswap and Uniswap v2 saw a major dip in volume during the mid May crash
    • Uniswap v3 didn't see much dip as it originated during the crash.

In terms of swaps made -

    • Uniswap v2 is the considerable winner, unlike transaction volume
    • However Uniswap v2 saw a considerable dip in transaction due to the combined effect of launch of a newer version and the market crash.
    • Sushiswap swap number stayed relatively stable, hence Uniswapv2 dip is primarily from migration to the new protocol.

An interesting phenomenon to note here is that, Uniswap v3 has almost comparable volume to v2 and Sushiswap combined.
This can be inferred as the difference in the type of users interacting the protocol. While Uniswap v3 is slightly gas expensive for Small swaps, its slippage efficiency is unparalleled. Hence usually whale activity is usually through Uniswap v3, where as smaller swaps are made through v2 and sushiswap.
