Sushiswap vs Uniswap - Gas Wars
With NFT mania back on the cards, GAS wars are truly underway. Who will give miners the most ETH ? In this dashboard, we will look at the gas expenditure of two of the biggest ERC-20 DEXes on the Ethereum Mainnet - Sushiswap and Uniswap
For the purpose of this comparison, we will compare Sushiswap with both Uniswap v2 and v3, using Flipside's curated swap table - ethereum.dex_swaps
Before we gauge the Gas expenditure, let us look at the transaction volume to make the first few guesses and estimates.
Uniswap is clearly a behemoth in terms of Swap volume. So we can guess right away that Uniswap is the Miner's darling.
Now let us look at some GAS statistics.
As GAS units is a function of swap volume, once again Uniswap is the clear winner here.
However, on average a Sushiswap swap is slightly expensive in terms of average price used. Thus Sushiswap swaps are usually prices at a slight premium gas price, maybe an exquisite tip to the miners.
Similar trend in expected in terms of ETH spent in gas fees.
Sushiswap being able to compete with neither of the Uniswap DEXes. However things change in terms of per transaction expenditure.
Interestingly, Sushiswap provides the most gas optimized expenditure. Sushiswap has maintained its average fee paid per transaction almost always below both the Uniswap DEXes. Though its a tiny part, it still is one reason why Sushiswap is not Miners darling.
