Analyzed time period: From the beginning of Airdrop Claiming (2022-06-01) until now

1.Analysis:

In the first round of Optimism Airdrop distribution, 250 million OP tokens will be distributed to 249K eligible users, so far, 148.8K users have claimed their tokens, 158.7 million of the total tokens (73.9%) have been claimed.

Conclusions :

1. 73% of total OP tokens was claimed , 123K users have claimed 136 million of the total tokens, more than 101 thousand users have not claimed their airdrop yet.

2. It seems that users were not optimistic about the future of the OP token price, most of the users sold their tokens in the first hour.

3. The biggest sales pressure came from the “Optimism Users” category.(users who have been allocated 776 tokens)

4. The “Overlap Bonuses” category has received the most volume from the airdrop.

5. mostly claim and sold at prices between 1.2 and 1.4

6. 24K users are still holding less than 10% of their airdrops.

7. Although a large part of users (99K) are not OP holders, but 24K of users still hold less than 10% of their airdrops.

8. 109K users (73%) have delegated their Voting Power, wallet 0x5e349eca2dc61abcd9dd99ce94d04136151a09ee have 1.8 million delegate OP.

As it is clear in the charts below, the highest volume of claims was in the first 3 days, in these 3 days, more than 123K users have claimed 136 million of the total tokens.

So far, the largest amount of tokens have been collected by users who were eligible for Overlap Bonuses (40%), in second place are Optimism Users (27.5%) (users who have been allocated 776 tokens) and in third place are Repeat Optimism Users (17.3%) (users who have been allocated 2,469 tokens given)

Introduction :

The Optimism Foundation’s Airdrop #1 rewards those who have been instrumental as early adopters and active users of projects in the Optimism ecosystem. To celebrate our Ethereum roots, The Optimism Foundation also want to welcome active L1 participants who can help scale Ethereum’s innovations, culture, and values to Layer 2. In total, 248,699 addresses are eligible to claim OP in this initial airdrop.

OP airdrop has six sets of criteria. Two for Optimism users that target early adopters and active project users, and four for L1 Ethereum, which target active contribution, positive-sum behaviors, and active participation. Each set is distinct, meaning that an address can be eligible for multiple and allocated a sum of tokens accordingly

Eligible users are:

• Optimism Users: Users who’ve bridged to Optimism from L1 during the early phases of mainnet (before Jun 23, 2021), or used Optimism for more than 1 day (at least 24 hours between their first and last transaction) and made a transaction using an app (after to Jun 23, 2021).
• Repeat Optimism Users: Users who’re already eligible for the airdrop as “Optimism Users” and made at least 1 transaction with an Optimism application across four distinct weeks.
• DAO Voters: Address has either voted on or authored at least one proposal on-chain, or at least two on Snapshot (off-chain).
• Multi-Sig Signers: Address is a current signer on a Multi-Sig which has executed at least 10 transactions all-time. Multisig Wallets Include Gnosis Safe v0.1.0-1.3.0, MultiSigWithDailyLimit, MultiSigWalletWithTimeLock, and addresses in Etherscan’s ‘Multisig’ label which had a function to get owner addresses.
• Gitcoin Donors: Address has made an on-chain donation through Gitcoin. This includes any donation, regardless of if it was during a matching round.
• Users Priced Out of Ethereum: Address bridged to another chain, but still made an app transaction on Ethereum each month after they bridged, and transacted at an average rate of at least 2 per week since then. Bridges included top L1s by TVL: Terra, BSC, Fantom, Avalanche, Solana, Polygon; and general-purpose L2s: Arbtirum, Optimism, Metis, Boba.

It seems that most users sold the tokens immediately after claiming them (50%), the second group of users waited an hour and then sold them**(14.9%)**

Interestingly, 4.5% of users waited 2 months and then sold their tokens.

The data shows that 75% of the users have not held their tokens, most of this group consists of Optimism Users (users who have been allocated 776 tokens).

18.8% of users currently hold 10% or less of their tokens, 145 users have fully held their tokens.

At what price was the airdrop claimed and sold?

The charts show that the tokens were mostly claim and sold at prices between 1.2 and 1.4 .

57.5% of the tokens were claimed at the price of (1.37) and 36.2% at the price of (1.27)
