Hacks, Scandals and Scams - 3. Whales On Alert
Identify active wallets with a high balance of ETH (whales). Visualize the ETH transaction history of these whales in May and June 2022.
In this dashboard, the balance and transactions of the top 20 whales in the Ethereum network that have been active have been reviewed. My criterion for determining whether whales are active is that they have had at least 29 transactions (an average of one transaction per day) in the current month (July 2022). Then, I have checked the balance of these 20 wallets in the current date, as well as their transactions and the amount of fees paid in May and June.
Getting Started
In the chart table below, the top 20 active whales are shown along with their balance, USD amount and the number of transactions they have made this month. As we can see, the two wallets 0x742d35cc6634c0532925a3b844bc454e4438f44e and 0xf977814e90da44bfa03b6295a0616a897441acec have the highest balance with a 1.35M ETH (almost 2.3B USD) and 1.31M ETH (almost 2.26B USD), respectively, with a significant difference compared to the rest of the whales.
In general, these 20 whales have paid a total of 3450 USD for their transactions in the months of May and June. Also, the total number of transactions of these 20 whales in the months of May and June was about 1.574M transactions.
In the graphs below, the number of transactions and the volume of payment per 20 whales in the months of May and June are shown separately for each wallet. But most transactions and payment fees are not related to the wallets that have the largest balance. The highest number of transactions and the highest paid fee is related to the wallet 0x2faf487a4414fe77e2327f0bf4ae2a264a776ad2, which has made a total of almost 397K transactions and paid nearly 1.36K USD in fees.
Also, in the “Daily Top 20 Whale Transactions in May & July“ chart, the number of transactions of these 20 whales can be seen per day.
In the graphs below, the number of transactions of these 20 whales in the months of May and June is shown daily and overall based on the type of transaction. As we can see, most transactions were done on May 11 and 12. As can be seen, the highest number of transactions has been done for transfer. Almost 91.6% of the transactions of these 20 whales were done for transfer, 4.26% for approve and the remaining 4.14% for other types.
