Nouns Governance Participation

    > Analyze the on-chain voting for NounsDAO. Which proposals have had the most engagement, relative to the number of tokens minted?

In this dashboard, we analyze Nouns Governance Participation. The meaning of Nouns Governance Participation is to check how many votes were registered for each proposal? And finally, how many proposals have been created so far and how many votes have been registered by how many voters and how many wallets have not voted?

    What are NounsDAO?

Nouns are an experimental attempt to improve the formation of on-chain avatar communities. While projects such as Cryptopunks have attempted to bootstrap digital community and identity, Nouns attempt to bootstrap identity, community, governance, and a treasury that can be used by the community.

Nouns DAO utilizes a fork of Compound Governance and is the main governing body of the Nouns ecosystem. The Nouns DAO treasury receives 100% of ETH proceeds from daily Noun auctions. Each Noun is an irrevocable member of Nouns DAO and entitled to one vote in all governance matters. Noun votes are non-transferable (if you sell your Noun the vote goes with it) but delegatable, which means you can assign your vote to someone else as long as you own your Noun.

    In Summary

    • Nouns artwork is in the public domain.
    • One Noun is trustlessly auctioned every 24 hours, forever.
    • 100% of Noun auction proceeds are trustlessly sent to the treasury.
    • Settlement of one auction kicks off the next.
    • All Nouns are members of Nouns DAO.
    • Nouns DAO uses a fork of Compound Governance.
    • One Noun is equal to one vote.
    • The treasury is controlled exclusively by Nouns via governance.
    • Artwork is generative and stored directly on-chain (not IPFS).
    • No explicit rules exist for attribute scarcity; all Nouns are equally rare.
    • Nounders receive rewards in the form of Nouns (10% of supply for first 5 years).

    Getting Started

Our reviews consist of several parts. First, we check how many users could vote and how many of them voted. Then we see how many votes were given for each proposal and how many Against, For and Abstain votes were given in total. Finally, we examine the total number of votes and participation in voting.

Our criterion for measuring participation is to check how many NFTs have been minted and how many votes have been registered by the end of voting. Knowing how many NFTs have been minted is important because each NFT generates one vote. That is, by comparing the number of NFT minted (which is equivalent to the maximum number of votes) and the number of votes cast, we can calculate the participation rate.

The chart below shows the total number of voters and the total number of non-voters. In general, 221 wallets could participate in voting, of which 86 participated in voting and 135 did not vote.

The two graphs below show the total number of voters and the total number of non-voters along with the total votes cast. The chart on the left is about the voters and the chart on the right is about the total votes cast. In general, 221 wallets could participate in voting, of which 86 participated in voting (38.9%) and 135 did not vote (61.1%). Also, a total of 3422 votes for, 528 votes against and 230 votes for abstention have been given. Also, the votes given to each proposal can be seen separately in the table.

The following table shows how many NFTs have been minted until the end of the proposal and how many votes have been registered for each proposal. In the last column, the percentage of participation is calculated. The sort of the table below is based on the highest percentage of participation. The "Votes per Proposal" chart also shows the number of votes for each proposal. We see some proposals in the table that are empty. These are proposals that have been cancelled.

The highest number of votes (98 votes) was recorded for the proposal with ID = 82. But Proposal ID = 82 did not have the highest participation rate. As we can see in the chart after that, until the end of voting of Proposal ID = 82, 319 NFTs have been minted. In the third chart we can see that the highest participation is related to Proposal ID = 22. By the end of voting for Proposal ID = 22, 126 NFTs have been minted and 43 votes have been recorded for this proposal. According to the number of minted NFTs and the number of votes, the participation rate in this proposal was 34%.

In the last chart, the number of voters for each proposal can be seen.
